....so he was drifting in a truck yard I assume right? I thought this happened on the street

Hey he's not hurt though. Funny how his pops wouldn't let him lower his car but allows him to drift.

All in all, we all just want to have fun with our cars. We all break the law but there's a certain degree of hypocrisy in all of us and we will chime in when something happens so if you can't deal with it, then don't post about ur mishap.

Drifters just pay a bigger price when they have an "oopsie." End of story.

Great way to ruin a good car..... I've lost count as to how many cars I've seen written off thanks to street drifting.... Seriously, if you do that on the street your a moron - period.
Don't give everyone the 'But it's safe cos' no one is around' story either...

i don't understand why you can only have a 240sx or skyline to drift?

just because e30s arent popular drift cars doesnt mean he can't drive his car how he wants

is it dumb to do it on the street? yes. this specific incident seems to be in a warehouse parking lot though

I plan to get another 240z with a shitty boddy and prep it to race, but I want to drift with the car too. it's fun

bottom line. they drifted, they paid for it.

they might not be popular drift cars in america or japan but in the rest of the world alot of people use e30's.

But it COULD have been you. Buddy, he drifted under a SEMI. You had a hard time getting sympathy from us when you railed into a curb, do you REALLY think we're gonna cut this kid a break?

YOU DON"T DRIVE 240SX's OR SKYLINES, NOR DO YOU LIVE IN JAPAN WHERE THEY HAVE TRACKS AND CONTESTS ALL OVER THE PLACE FOR DRIFTING.

STOP DRIFTING AND LEARN TO RACE FOR REAL - BY KEEPING YOUR TIRES UNDERNEATH YOU, INSTEAD OF YOU UNDERNEATH A SEMI.

Seriously, this is the shit that happens with "street drifting." Don't expect us to feel bad for you guys.
um yeah seeing as im affiliated with www.dgtrials.com a association that its sole purpose is to have drift and Gymkhana trials in the us on diffrent tracks. And im also the founder of Sfldrifters.com, and I also help run the ter tech drift events which are @ least once a month. But hey theres no drift events in the usa and if you dont own a nissan your just a ricer e30 owner that slides his car instead of auto xing and road racing like everyone else correct?. I hit the curb and i found it funny i called pat and ordered parts on the side of the road. My e30 is not my daily so thats why i can do that. Yeah i street slide but i use my head when doing it and i wouldnt of slide with a 18 wheeler there. O and btw i havent missed a auto x this season down here.

Its may 23rd, about 9:40 a.m. Pacific time... any wager on how long before he r3v's? that is up there for the most ignorant comment i've read on the boards recently. I have 255's on the rear of my e36, i should be fucking unstopable. Shit, if i got in an f1 car i'd be way, way beyond good. I mean they have like 300's! but damn, those 225's are fuh rhaz3e!

honestly, think about that statement. I run 225's on my m3, but that extra few inches of rubber isn't going to do shit for you OR me if you make a mistake at 80 mph hangin it on a freeway interchange.

yea i wouldn't go that far by any means.

but you can definately feel the difference in different styles/sizes of tires

Ok let's get everything straightened out.

First, we were sliding with lookouts. And it was working well because that accident happened at 12:30am.... I was drifting until 3am. We havent had a single issue with anyone. Whenever a car was coming we would usually stop the second the lookout signalled his high beams. No one probably ever heard our tires.

Second, I was not allowed to lower my first e30, for the reason that the white 4dr '89 was my father's car. He was the first owner and he was "giving it to me". He is still attached to the car for being it's only owner and the car having like 70k miles. For that reason he did not want me to lower the car.

When I purchased my black '90, he just gave me the green light for everything. He has been very supportive of all my drifting events and he helped me pay more than 1/2 of the last event which occured in Ocala, FL (320 miles from here).

He's been to our meets at warehouse lots where we street drift and like every outsider that has been there, we've been complimented on our lookout system. The only day that cops went there, I wasnt even there, and I heard there were 20 cars sliding with no lookouts (doesnt take a genious to see it coming).

Surge, drifting is dangerous. What I do is lower the risk of involving someone else in this. I know the chances of me messing up my car are higher when I drift. I have been sliding that same place on a biweekly basis for the past 3 months. I had a slip up and messed up my car. Ask anyone, you dont see me whining and booing about what happened. Besides, non-Ms are worthless...... in 30 years an e30 m3 will be worth $30k and all your non-Ms will be worth $1k. I'm giving mine a pretty good run for it's life before it is considered literally worthless.

nando, no it's not the first time.... it's the 3rd. But guess what? I had fun... and the $5k I probably put in total in my car were definetly worth it. Everything can be removed and put into a brand new shell that I'll probably fuck up in another year or two. Dont you hate me? "Oh my god he's lowering the e30 community." Hell my car always liked the abuse and always kept going. I'll let you know that I always had my maintenance come first. Ask Patrick from BMA to pull out the monthly records of my spendings w/ him.

ColdAccord, a drift car can be anything. I've driven 240sx's and nothing quite does it for me (that I can afford) than a non-M e30 does.

Now, thanks for all the support from those who have been understanding of my situation. It kinda sucks, I have to admit it, but if you enter this motorsport expecting to come out without a dent, you're sadly mistaken. Even D1 drivers fuck up their cars because they always push their limits.

To those who want to keep criticizing, you guys do indeed do a favor to our community, because you remind us of how good an e30 can look. I remind you all of how good an e30 can perform, even in an unorthodox way. You guys may not accept what I do, but if I was to care, I wouldn't be doing anything with my life..... sorry guys, the e30s will keep coming and going. (hopefully the next one lasts longer)

NO biggie man, you explained the lowering part, that's all I was in the dark about as I just remember the e3s days when you were mad because you couldn't lower it.

There is a lot of negativity about drifting. Your pops supporting you is cool too. Just be careful for when the mishap occurs as the risk is higher as you know.

The most annoying thing however is the e30 getting profiled as a drift car making it harder for those who don't want them to drift but other purposes. Most can't afford the e30 as a drift car anyway. Some would put their non M's in a bubble if they could. Endless discussion....
