I plan on taking it to a BMW dealership with a bodyshop rather than a statefarm shop...does that make a diff?

I would also want to take it to a BMW dealership but to be honest with you I think that any body shop that statefarm suggests would be ok. (I think the biggest deal is to make sure the shop has a long history and isnt going out of business any time soon).

Let us now how it turns out though. Interested either way!

It might make a difference but I dunno. They should be able to recommend a good shop specializing in euro cars. They were able to for me. Good luck! Ask a lot of questions and make sure you get what you want. Don't be afraid to remind them that it was their customer who hit you and you want satisfaction.

yeah I took it to a bmw dealership with a collision repair shop attached to it. So I'll be getting OEM replacement parts. I got a qoute today with the tailpanel replaced. estimate was $1900. Statefarm basically said I could have it repaired immediately. Now I'm not sure how they determine a total loss on a vehicle...but their adjuster did not mention this in their estimate so I think I'm good for now.

About bodyshops, I chose BMW because i'm really in a hick town with no european specialty shops, so BMW would be the safest I think.
