    that is an m50

This is an example pf how clean the 2002 we will use HAS to be.

Can anyone point me into the direction of swap info?

Dude, if you crash an 02 that nice I will have to find you and kill you.

Im guessing you are on your own, most people here stick to e30s. Check the 02 sigs of the BMWCCA and see if they have sources.
        Im now E30less.

If you can put a m20 in an 2002 why not m50 especially if you can do the wiring blindfold

            i never put an m20 into a 2002.

so has someone put a m20 into a 2002? cause if they have that means the s50 will go into the 2002 the same as it would the e30.

Yes....someone did. Waaaay back in the day (circa early 1990s), there was a short story in European Car mag on a guy who dropped an M20 into an '02. He was a figher jet test pilot by trade and tinkered with cars and whatnot as a hobby. I remember how methodical this guy was in every detail of the swap.....really, really clean. Sadly about a year or so later this guy was killed while testing a new jet for the millitary.

Several people have swapped in M20s in the past few years. It really isn't a mysterious engine swap any longer. It doesn't quite drop in with the same relative ease that an M50 does into an E30, but it can certainly be done. There is even a guy who now fabricates motor mounts for the swap.

                Can we say front-heavy?

Pm MrNvgtr - he's in the middle of an S52 swap into a 2002, IIRC. Let me find the link....

The popular engine is now the S14 into an '02.

mchenry wrote an entire writeup on the m20 swap in some magazine back in the day and if you search I recall reading the entire article on the internet.

My dad tried a hot 2.6 M20 in his '02, but he dropped in the S14 when it came out in '88. He said the M20 was faster on the street but the S14 was more potent on the track.
