My 325is has been gargle heavy lately. Stockish m20 with stock exhaust no muffler. During downshifts my car gargles and pops. Sounds very cool but wondering what casues it. My other m20 never did this. Also found two big holes in my intake boot which will be fixed asap.

The POP is a backfire which is almost always cause by unburnt fuel hitting the exhaust. the gargling could be a hole or leak somewhere in the intake, or the way the air is flowing through the exhaust. My car does both. lol -
Seems like all of them do, just quietly. When I put my magnaflow muffler in you could hear it more with the windows down. It popped more when it ran warm, but then again my head gasket was gone so that may have har something to do with it.

Mine does neither really. It does make a loud pop noise when I r3vmatch when I downshift, not as loud as say a backfire but it makes a nice pop.
