Fuckin awesome! Take lots of pics. I can guarantee that you will never start a story "remember that time i paid a truck driver $$$ to deliver my car?" I did CA. to GA. a few years back in a '68 1600 that hadn't run in three years, that trip is still worth talking about.

I saw go for it, might strand you might not, but I've drove my e30 with 189K on the clock before I did ANYTHING to it, down to miami and back to boston without so much as a needing a quart of oil before the return trip. driving across the country is fun in its own right, to get a "new" car doing it is even better.

so your adventures are over peter?
oh no, to live would be an awfully big adventure

This is going to be awesome. I had a BMW guy go look at the car and he said its good to go. The problem I have is not the shipping but the title. The auction will not release interest unless I am there, no if and or buts and its a 66k 325is for $800.00.

Anyway I will be in Clayton NC. Anyone have space to do a timing belt? Just want to do the basic and get on my way and hey is something happens its a trip across the country. I have AAA.

hit in front and back. Both bumpers need replaced. There is also cpillar damage that is only skin deep. A local Seattle body shop will fix that. So hopefully for 4K to 5K I should be ale to get this looking nice.

also just got a good parts car with a blown auto. Should I try to have the c-pillar fixed or have the whole panel replaced?

Well I will make a couple of suggestions.

When in the Chicago land area, if you are hitting it between 7am and 7pm on a weekday avoid the sky way and the dan ryan/eisenhower expressway route out on I80 west to 39 north then up to rockford that way. Yes its a few miles further, but as some one who has driven back forth from MI to MT countless times. Unless you are passing though that area on a weekend or late at night, you will be stuck in traffic and will have slow progress out to Rockford on 90/94 you will make time on the 80 to 39 to 90 route.

The 94 route through ND is the way I like better, just fuel is a little further apart than the 90 route, though SD, but in an e30 this should not be an issue at all. Its going to take you at least 4 days plan accordingly MN is about 6 hours on 94, 3-4 on 90, Dakotas are about 7-8 hours to get across, MT is 10-12 hours either route.

My car was $500 to ship from L.A. to Milwaukee, took 2 weeks but its cheap. If you end up doing this and pass through Milwaukee then you are welcome to stop by (pending background check) :P

I shipped a car for $625 like 3 months ago... Granted, it was Wisconsin to Colorado. Just ship it. You are asking for trouble.
