two weeks ago, i had an overnight in las vegas. there is a restoration shop adjacent the airport called classic bmw. they are doing 3 or 4 "nut and bolt" restorations on 2002's right now. chris, the owner said that this type of rehab on a 2002 costs over 100,000 dollars. he also said that he has so may customers lined up for this type of restoration, he has to turn them away.

so....yes 100 grand for an 02 is in crack smoking territory, but there are apparently several people out there willing to pay.

Exactly. If you look at the market right now. A mint original 2002tii can bring 50k so one that has a custom suspension, drive line, and even a custom fire wall and trans tunnel and done so well it looks stock. So 100k is a good price when you think about all that went into it. Would I personally pay that much? Hell no Id take the 100k and build something of my own.

^^ perfect find considering hardtops go for $1.5. Easy bucks can be made out of it by parting out or restoring it.

I loled at 190-210 to the wheels from a low compression M20 with a "baby camshaft". I'm tempted to contact him tomorrow, and poke and prod to see what I can get outta the guy lol
