Your E30(s). Sentimental or just metal?

Yeah sure it is. My parents have pictures of me with it when I was like five years old.
I remember riding in the back of it as a little kid in the mid 1990s, thinking it was the shit.

Yeah, i totally understood why you didnt want to repair the latest damage due to some of the previous damage, most of which others wouldnt have bothered with fixing.

Funny thing about the white car is my madness in buying was to save some Fwit getting it and wrecking it with angel eyes and chrome rims and it getting trashed, hoping that Jake will come to his senses and want it back.

Sadly for him, I am growing attached to it too lol but its still his car IMO, im just putting it together for him and caring for it for a while, like a foster parent :p

I can see in 15 years kids will say to my son, "wtf is it with your dad and those old POS BMWs"

I'm definitely attached to my car. I consider it my first car, although I had an E30 prior to it for about a year and a '95 Ford escort to beat on. My first one was a one night stand, (and a heap), and this one is my trophy wife. Ok, it's not perfect, but the damn thing has taken me everywhere since I was 17. Heck, whenever I get upset over something I just grab my keys and go for a drive. She's always there for me. Were coming up on our 3 years soon too. I would be absolutely DEVASTATED if something happened to my baby.

Definitely attached to mine, had it already for 10 years and even it was my dads before every single new thing im doing to it.. he says " ohh stop messing with it" so I guess he is still attached to it too, yesterday was almost a tragedy while at a stop light when it turned green I started to drive off when I saw this fucking van coming at full speed... man if I hadn't looked I would've gotten T- BONED!!!

My poor car runs like shit right now but i wouldnt trade her for any other car , i have sold to many of my beloved e30s and this one is the last one i buy , the shifter would pulled from my cold dead fingers.

My car is part of who I am. Everyone I know associates me with it and the brand. All of my creative talents are manifested in the work I do on it. I used to draw like a comic artist, amazingly well and all the time, and now all of that creative energy goes into the custom things I do to my car. The E30 community has become one of my closest circles of friends, and I wouldn't trade that for anything. Damn this sentimental chunk of 20-something year old West German steel.

I love my car. I don't think I would be happier with a paid-off E92 M3. If I wrecked it, I would cry. If someone else hit me, or it was stolen, or selling it was the right thing to do for the family, then I would move on very, very quickly.

It's a pretty cool car. I'd trade it instantly for something better. An e30 is a realistic car or in my case, a gateway to nicer cars. I will probably own an e30 in the end but for now, I just build them up how I want them, then trade/sell it for something more desirable. In the next five years, I will own every single m car from 88-2006. Mark my words.

My car has a bit of a story

I was class of 2000. Across the street from the admin office of my HS there used to park a red e30 4dr. I knew enough to know that it was a later e30, and that meant that it was the twin cam 318i. The car was hot and I wanted it.

One day my mom informs me that she's bought a new car. She wouldn't tell me what it was, but I had a hunch that it was a BMW by her excitement. I couldn't believe it! She had purchased THE CAR! It was the same 318i. It had been traded in at the local Ford dealer because the owner needed a truck. Sure enough, a brand new Ford pickup was parked where the 318i used to live.

After about six years mom gave me the car. It needs paint, etc, but it's an amazing car. 180k and the thing has had very little maintenance over the past decade. I miss my 2002's and am itching to get something vintage again, but I'm never selling my 318i.
