I agree with you, especially the last sentence. It has its place but, for me, the enthusiast I'd like that mechanical feeling. That feeling of meshing with the car. Like Nando said, DRIVING the car, not just pointing it where to go like every soccer mom in her Sienna (which could probably take my car). It comes down to a feeling and I have yet to get that with any sort of semi auto trans. Granted I haven't driven the new M3.
Who's got a spare 115k sitting around?

I've gotten sick of explaining why I like a third pedal. I know DCTs/PDKs/modern autos are more efficient and faster. I can appreciate all the tech, I really can, but a car with only two pedals is just a toy to me--a real car involves you.
Also that car looks like a turd sandwich.paint sucksComment

All debate aside, it's funny to consider that it is far from likely that the people who have claimed the third pedal 'involves you' more are able to involve themselves enough to left-foot brake in a 2! pedal car in a way that makes full use of the system.
Just sayin' (and I drive an eta solely with suspension mods, so I fully understand the whole experience>speed thing).

I have driven a 997 carrera and 135i both with tip tronic or what ever they are. I would say that it is easier and would make driving faster, but the fact is that they have rules e.g only let you down shift when it thinks it is safe, that is why I feel disconnected as I don't have full control.
It also makes a lot of FAGs think they are racing and fucking awesome when in reality they are poor drivers its the auto trans TC and SC that make them think they are good and they fuck good cars up all the time.
Anyways back on topic that car is more gay then a Broke Back Mountian Musical.sigpicComment

Tiptronic is not the same thing a DCT or DSG or whatever you want to call it. Tiptronic uses a torque convertor.

I've driven DCT/PDK/DSG/F1/E-Gear pretty much you name it, in my opinion none of them compare in overall driving experience with my E30. It's just not as fun clicking a paddle as it is moving the shifter into gear, timing the pedals right and manually rev matching.Comment

Actually when my car was automatic I braked exclusively with my left foot. Its different, but still no fun..All debate aside, it's funny to consider that it is far from likely that the people who have claimed the third pedal 'involves you' more are able to involve themselves enough to left-foot brake in a 2! pedal car in a way that makes full use of the system.

there is no denying the PDK/DCT systems are far superior than any stick shift 3rd pedal car. The fact is with those systems you are no longer driving the car.
You ask the car to do something, it decides if it is ok/safe to do so, then let's you do what you asked.
Yes this is good for people that A) cannot drive B) people who want balls to the walls driving while having the danger limited by a computer.
However a stick shift lets YOU do all of this with out any nay say from the computer getting in your way. If I were to have a True Paddle shift car I would have to also have a regular stick shift for when i feel the need to really Drive not ask a computer if I can go for a drive.

I've actually done that, with a stick shift car. You don't actually NEED to use the clutch to shift ;)
I think he was talking about the cornering technique, not the foot you normally use to brake with.paint sucksComment
