dont listen to 87e30, his car is just unreliable because its fashioned out of toothpicks and bits of old wire.

Recent headswap aside it hasnt cost me much to maintain, or been particualrly unreliable. I mean it IS an old car, so dont expect warrantied toyato levels, but if youre not a moron with a wrench and dont mind giving it love regulalry, its not bad.

its also never left me stranded except for after i did hte headswap, and i made a stupid mistake leaving an electrical connection loose.

Yeah but how many parts do you know your car could use...?

Sure it works, but it's not exactly like it doesn't need anything.

to run? hardly anything maintenance wise. I need to change out my oil because you have to after removing the head but theres not much the car NEEDS. finishing my seats, tweaking the coilovers, and the paint aren't necessary fro transportation and largely optional

But you've replaced the rear bushings and some of the front?

Your car has it's e30 quirks like the rest of them. Like anyo ld car though. In reality any car this old is going to have some quirks. I agree it's better to have a newer DD.

And you don't use your car that much.
                uh, i probably average 1k-1500mi/mo?

and just rear bushings but ive onwed the car for 4 years, and bought it with 288k so thats not that unreasonable.

87 please take the massive tampon from your vagina. Do what you want with it after you remove it, it's none of my business.

You are the only one here with massive complaints. My car has treated me like a god. Never left me stranded. Been on multiple 200 + mile trips with it.

                    Yeah that's fairly impressive.

My eta WAS reliable in the sense that it would always start up (usually) but there was still a bunch of BS to deal with all the time.

well, my car was a california car that i had gone through and serviced (before i worked on cars) and that got it off on the right foot. But thats something you should do after buying a car regardless if you dont know when it was done last

While this may be true, this is very common. Nor do I always drive the crap out of it.

My friend has a clean late model and he runs into problems here and there.

For a car this old, with this many features, it's going to run into problems.

I don't understand how people really think this is more "reliable" (aka cheaper to own) than a generic mid 90s japanese car...

We own these cars because we like them...
