      We need a fair comparison here. Install an OEM oil pan then go back and hit the same chunk in the road and report back.

          did you notice any cracks in it before you installed it.

              Ouch doubt oe pan with a skid plate would have saved that.

                      Bought the car with this oil pan. I believe the casting and material used had a major role in this catastrophe. Though the pan would have broken anyhow, I doubt it would be this severe with an oe pan.

                        theres no such thing as an aftermarket or second hand m42 oil pan... no one makes them therefore that pan is OEM which means that its your fault.
