You guys are assuming the oil pan would be the only thing to break had the skid plate not been there. With the impact and amount everything was hit, he would have taken out his oiling system and possibly the crank/ a few rods. The engine would have been toast.

The frame damage probably didn't affect the body work and I'm pretty sure the car will still align straight. Had the OP had rubber mounts, the arms probably wouldn't have broken. IE you could have still driven the car around daily with no problems after this hit.

I did not know of that thread. Thanks for sharing and I am even more pleased that the skid plate did its job.

The frame damage is hard to see in the picture but it does not look terrible. That is not a terribly strong area of the frame, plus that it is forward of the shock towers and the impact damage is very localized so I doubt it will effect the overall integrity of the frame rails.

Your friend at the body shop should be able to pull that back down easily.

If you do decide to reuse that skid plate I might suggest getting a new support bar. I will talk with my fabricator today and see what we can do to get you a new bar sent out. You will want this when the frame is pulled back down to make sure that bar will fit back over the stubs.

The plate itself is spring steel so you may find it a little difficult to get straight again. You may need to get some heat into it. The body shop may be able to help with that.

Anyways, I got to run, but again I thank you for the positive comments and I am glad the skid plate did its job and saved the oil pan.

That must have been a hell of a impact, glad that is all the damage that was done.

haha alright guys. i got the motor arms replaced but that bar is bent too bad to be put on right now..

i'm planning on grabbing a new bar and endpiece then replace that and have the frame fixed and maybe reinforced somehow.
