    My other rides are boats...

So its been a while r3v, and while I'm sure no one here missed me, I'm still gonna tell you all where I've been...

Right after the E30 Picnic I resumed my on-again, off-again alternate life sailing tall ships. Specifically, the SV Hawaiian Chieftain and the SV Lady Washington, which are both operated by the Grays Harbor Historical Seaport. I worked as the Engineer's Mate (and Chief Engineer for a week) on the Chieftain for about two months and then hoped over to the Lady Wahington to work as her Engineer's Mate until this last Sunday.

So here, in no particular order are a bunch of pictures...

Hawaiian Chieftain's Mizzen and Main Gallows:

    Binicle of the Chieftain:

    Chief's Con:

    I love the PNW...

    The Con again...

    Binicle and Helm:

The Lady Washington with the Hewitt Jackson in tow:

OMG Run! (if you can read this, it was only a drill)

    The Brig Lady Washington:

Get out your code book, its hilarious...

    The Lady

The Lady Washington from the Chieftain:

    The Lady at Sucia Island:

    Dusk at Sucia Island:

The Lady from Smuggler's Cove (yes that's ther real name of it):

    Lady Anchored-off of Pelican Beach:

    Cyprus Island Sunset:

    The Hawaiian Chieftain at Sucia:

    The Lady under sail:

    The humble Longboat Hewitt Jackson:

Helga, Hawaiian Chieftain's Starboard Main, she has twin Volvo Penta TAMD61A's

    Hilda, Helga's Port-side sister:

    The Split-Topsail-Ketch Hawaiian Chieftain:

    Yep, the PNW rocks...

that is neat, I have always had a little bit of a fascination with sailing ships, growing up in the great lakes state prolly had something to do with it.

Never really had the chance to see one like this up close like that. Thanks for the pics and tour. Someday I will have to do the tourist thing and do something like that for a day trip kinda thing

That is so cool. I am scared to death of open water, but I would love to do that. Those pictures are pretty darn good looking too. I need to visit the PNW.

Thanks guys, in the last three months I've worked harder than I ever have, but I also have had the most fun I've ever had too. If I didn't have to return to my real career I could have stayed on the boat indefinately.

Funny thing is, that I'm not a fan of open water either, and I have a natural fear of heights, but for some reason the combination of being 80 feet up working in the rig, and out of sight of land is freeking awesome...
