    Web-Based Businesses

I was just curious who on r3v runs or works for a web-based business. I wanted to see if any of you had any marketing tips.

I work for a web-based company that sells apparel. I have been updating our google base feeds to be compliant with the new changes.

I have heard some people have been uploading product pics with a description and link to flickr and have seen an increase in traffic. I think I am going to try that next.

Any one have any other tips or tricks they have tried or want to try?

Please try to stay on topic :p

do you do any social media? For my website I don't do it but it is worth a few hours a week, but you do have to cultivate it.

I'm not going to speculate much, what works for my websites might not work for selling clothes. But simply getting involved with a community usually helps, at least, most people give you good feedback to retain and amend a site.

Yeah we have a twitter account and a facebook page. We recently started doing facebook paid ads (to promote our page and website) and that has worked well for us.

Are you consumer direct or looking for distribution opportunities?

My wife sells her adult novelties on facebook, twitter, and google+ with good success. Social media makes it super easy to get yourself out there.

            Consumer direct.
We rank first in organic search. We are usually the top ad in google ads. Im just curious what other things people are trying to increase business.

We also recently started eBay and Amazon stores.

google offers, groupon, and living social is a great place to get exposure. your ad goes directly to their emails since customers voluntarily subscribes to them to get deals.
that's your best bet, right there.
Your signature picture has been removed since it contained the Photobucket "upgrade your account" image.

If you are willing to run those at a significant loss with no guarantee of repeat customers ;-) Those Groupon-type deals are for failing businesses grasping at straws.

Have you thought about starting a company blog? You use it in conjunction with facebook and twitter and get better feedback from your customers.

"Daily Deals" is a dying fad and won't be a sustainable investment.

You should also look into getting a social media intern. You really need to invest serious time in Facebook, Twitter and Google+. Having someone who's entire job is to handle your social media is perfect because it will free you (or whomever) up to focus on more traditional advertising or experimental ones.
