    How to remove door sills???

I have a 1991 318is that I need to remove the carpet. How can I remove the door sills? They move (slide) back and forth but won't budge upwards. Should I just pry them up? Worried that I'd break them...

    Thanks for any help..

They are extremely tight. Breaking is common. Get the right tool, like a panel tool, to get under there and pry up on the white clips. If you have to break anything, break the clips. They can be replaced more easily. Though you'll probably have to order them online since the local Autozone/O'Reilly's/Advanced won't have them.

And whatever you do, don't even try to remove them in the cold. The plastic will break it's so brittle.

Just go slowly and don't apply too much pressure to the black plastic.

Worst case scenario, you'll have to buy replacements on ebay or something.

Tear them off, go to pick n pull, tear them off more cars, accumulate clip things, replace, no headache or time wasted.

Yeah I broke 2/4 of mine... it's pretty hard, even with being carefully.

Two long flathead screw drivers, it is fucking easy to get them off.

How the fuck do you expect half the members on this adhd ridden forum to track down and keep a hold of two screw drivers at once?

Same way as the door moldings, just apply steady upwards pressure and it will pop off.

They break all the time. Just go to the junkyard and get your replacement clips there for under a buck.

                    RIP

Pull them straight up, don't worry about breaking them.

If they snap in half, now you have a legitimate excuse to get M-Technic ones. :D

I thought they were supposed to slide off!

I just slid toward front till back clip was free, then slid toward back till front clip was free. From there it was easy to slide out of the rest of the clips.
