This.328 if only for the later reliability issues you are going to run into with an FI car....don't act like they don't exist. Turbos always add another level of complication, especially when they begin aging.
....and your wife will be using it. Unless she's like my gf/fiance/whatever she doesn't need dat power and is more concerned with options/looks/luxury/etc.

All new BMWs have more efficiency as automatics, as well as they shift faster than most humans can. They also have a cool little mode that you can engage that make the automatic shift harder or softer depending on where you set it. Also, there are less and less cars with "sticks". Paddle shifters are taking over manual transmissions. And ya know what? They're better. If you want a BMW with a "stick", don't bother buying new.
Tl: DR, New automatics are better in most ways than new standard transmissions in BMW vehicles.

335i is the best way to go.
Also, register on bimmerforums.com & post this question in the 'e90' forum. The e90 is the current generation 3-series chassis offered by BMW right now.

Wrong
My wifes e90 cant downshift nearly as fast as I can.. Try dropping two gears at once, for hard acceleration. Not gonna happen in the autostick. Plus manuals are much more fun to drive and easier to keep track of what gear your in..... Do I need to push up 3 times to be in 2nd,,,, 3rd pedal forever...
