Older Boxter transmission can be a problem. My 2cents- buy something else/or save until you can buy a 911.
What do you think I should buy?

I've had both and I'll be honest...if you want a project go with the 951. They are a blast to own and drive. They can be a little pricey on parts but they respond so well to aftermarket goodies. They make great track cars and having the hatch space is a great plus if you plan on taking road trips.
If you want a car you can drive every day and will require less maintenance, go with the Boxster. I had an S with some Bilstein coilovers and sticky tires and I really enjoyed it. My only issue is that I spent the whole time thinking how much I missed my 911.Comment

Both are terrible cars, and questionably gay.
I'm not hating because I'm a BMW guy, I'm hating because I actually know about cars.Comment

Boxter S or a 968 over a 944. Maintaing a 944 can be a real pain in the ass and when things like the torque tube let go, you will wish for death.
968 is very similar looking to the 944, 3.0 na 4 cyl and was available as a turbo, just not in the US, the parts can be sourced to convery it though and they are rockets.
I used to hate on the boxter S , but they have grown on me. Take one out and really flog on it before you poop on the idea of one.seien Sie größer, als Sie erscheinen

I vote for the 944 turbo s. They are fairly rare, look bad ass and can be made to be VERY fast. If possible, get the 968.Comment
