I think a lot of this 'community' needs to take this to heart. I dropped out a long time ago and only rarely check in but to see all this happening is to outrageous to put into words. So many people with a nice-for-a-25-year-old-car worried about valets driving their car and forever talking about the M50 they will never install (remember when that was hot shit?) and not trusting mechanics.

Josh (it's Josh right? It's been a minute) I think you just need to sell a few choice parts of the vehicle to cover the cost, then just walk away. Keep the car, if you are really in the monetary straights you're claiming then selling your E30 and getting another vehicle is likely a step down in utility (with a roof rack and snow tires these cars will go anywhere and carry everything you need) and a waste of money and time. Get away from the online community and talk to real people with real cars in real life and move on.

YAN-3, I think you came about the community after I left but I did see the article on Jalopnik, I'm sorry about what happened to that cool ride of yours. Total bummer about that but I like to hear you're keeping your head up, I can totally understand getting bogged down by that mess, keep on truckin' brother.

I think this issue still needs addressed and to stay open but the majority of you need to get your head on straight.

The hardest part is admitting it. You will be amazed at the weight that is lifted when you are all squared up with everyone. Good luck with the sale, and minor lifestyle change. I hope you check in every now and again in the F1 thread.

I am sure Yan will see this and hope he in no way feels any responsibility, which would be absurd, and knows that in some small twisted way his m3 being massacred by vlad, has hopefully been a catalyst for someone to make some positive changes in their life and one hell of a learning experience for a lot of young guys. Always easier to learn from someone elses mistakes than your own.

PS I can paypal you $1841.00 for the car today. Jk glws

Hey man I'm nothing but a guy with kind of nice car. Sucks your choosing to sell the car to rectify the situation but you do you and what you think is best. Hopefully one day soon after this is blown over you will be back in the e30 community.

I liked the idea of selling things like the wheels, so you dont have to sell the car. But its up to you.

The account is closed. If I try to log in to it, Paypal tells me they cannot find an account with that email address. You can still get invoices, and even pay with a credit or debit card when someone sends you a money request to a closed or non-existent account. I just tried it myself from my existing account, and I got an email at my gmail.com address that someone had requested funds.

However, this is not my point for posting today. My posting today is to try to start the process of rectifying this situation. People are right, I hid from this. This was the worst possible thing I could do, but I panicked, plain and simple. I didn't know what to do, and for whatever reason, didn't ask for help, and dug myself into this hole. I tried to run away from it, foolishly thinking it would just go away, even though I knew it wouldn't. And when I showed up in this thread, it wasn't because I had seen that phreskid had bumped it, it was because Yan himself had asked me to post.

To my next point. People have stated that "squat" has been done yet. Well, that's only because I don't currently have $1841.00 in my wallet or my bank account. If I did, Yan would have it already. But he will soon. I am selling my E30 and getting out of the E30 community for a while.

I want people to know that this is something I considered doing last year, in an effort to accomplish the same thing, but I backed myself out of it, likely from selfishness. I know now that I have to let this car go, for not only the purposes of getting Yan what he is entitled to, but to re-prioritize my life, and focus on my life and my family. I've spent the better part of a decade or more obsessed with this car, and it's not only taken precedence over my life and focus, but it's led up to this unfortunate event. This will be a milestone for me, and hopefully, some kind of gesture to the community that I have no other wish at this but to try and fix this the only way I can.

I don't really have much else to say, so I'm just going to leave it at that.

    this times a million.
if you're gonna do something wrong, just don't get caught right?

well, time healed that nagging voice that would of morally made the average person want to step up to the plate and fess up the account was "hacked".

the absolute 1st thing a moral person could of done is publicly acknowledge this, once this was discovered.
Not forced so to speak by having to practically be called out on.

I honestly don't buy the "I'll make this right" and "I didn't know the money was gone" stories.
my 7 year old has better excuses.

He was a mod for quite sometime, quite active on this very board and maintained a trustworthy character/motive when looking to organize something good for Yan.

Watching that paypal account grow when the thread has gone silent, and when Yan himself SAID he was reluctant to even ASK for the money, hell why not conveniently have this $ disappear...with a "easy password" excuse...proclaim the email hasn't been used in forever, meanwhile Bluntech has invoices from January 2015 from this email.

There is no OTHER resource online that's as active as R3V. when it comes to the E30 game.
WHY leave it, when you're a moderator.

    All too easy.

Janderson ripped me off. and many others too. it's that simple.

*for the record I have had money issue with another moderator on R3V, but we've talked it out and we infact DID come to fruition on the matter...he/we stepped up to the plate and both took ownership of it, Janderson is talking a lot here and there, yet squat has been done.

There is a reason why I bumped this thread.

And as far as I'm concerned, Josh never would have stepped up on his own. It took e-pressure to get him off his couch and address these allegations.

Not to mention, we've verified that his PayPal account wasn't inactive or deleted like he stated, so all records should still be accessible. I'd still like to know what happened to the money/where it went.

He may be withholding this information in an effort to minimize damage, and I get that from a human aspect, but damage has been done. Let's see the deets.

    right.

so, isn't this, for lack of better words online fraud/theft?

sure it's all well and nice that he's still on the forum saying he'll "make it right" but this could of been made right, well...from the start of almost 3 years ago...to the day he posted his apology.

at the risk of beating a dead horse (and I know I am) this is something that wouldn't uphold itself quite well within a retail/real world setting.
the fact that we're online seems to give a tremendous amount of leniency on the matter that the "stolen" money is still unaccounted for yet the email is still quite active.

IMO, if Josh was going to rectify this, he would of by now.

    it's $18XX
    not $200K.

I perhaps hold a little bit of biased ambiguity due to the fact he had always been quite vocal and at times a little bit of a bully when it comes to OTHER people making mistakes online, whereas he's wasn't exactly practicing what he preached, from what I perceived online.

where i'm from, we call that being a hypocrite.
