Hey man I'm nothing but a guy with kind of nice car. Sucks your choosing to sell the car to rectify the situation but you do you and what you think is best. Hopefully one day soon after this is blown over you will be back in the e30 community.

The hardest part is admitting it. You will be amazed at the weight that is lifted when you are all squared up with everyone. Good luck with the sale, and minor lifestyle change. I hope you check in every now and again in the F1 thread.
I am sure Yan will see this and hope he in no way feels any responsibility, which would be absurd, and knows that in some small twisted way his m3 being massacred by vlad, has hopefully been a catalyst for someone to make some positive changes in their life and one hell of a learning experience for a lot of young guys. Always easier to learn from someone elses mistakes than your own.
PS I can paypal you $1841.00 for the car today. Jk glws

Reading his posts are inspirational and make me want work harder at turning the other cheek. Thanks for that Yan.[I

Josh (it's Josh right? It's been a minute) I think you just need to sell a few choice parts of the vehicle to cover the cost, then just walk away. Keep the car, if you are really in the monetary straights you're claiming then selling your E30 and getting another vehicle is likely a step down in utility (with a roof rack and snow tires these cars will go anywhere and carry everything you need) and a waste of money and time. Get away from the online community and talk to real people with real cars in real life and move on.
YAN-3, I think you came about the community after I left but I did see the article on Jalopnik, I'm sorry about what happened to that cool ride of yours. Total bummer about that but I like to hear you're keeping your head up, I can totally understand getting bogged down by that mess, keep on truckin' brother.
I think this issue still needs addressed and to stay open but the majority of you need to get your head on straight.

This will be a milestone for me, and hopefully, some kind of gesture to the community that I have no other wish at this but to try and fix this the only way I can.
I don't really have much else to say, so I'm just going to leave it at that.Originally posted by Jand3rson View PostThe car is the ultimate distraction in my life, and has been for years. I empathize completely with the rest of what you're saying, about a car taking precedence over other more important things in your life. This is basically my life right now.
A mistake was made. If we accept that you had absolutely nothing to do with the money disappearing, it's not your fault that the money was stolen. Yes, you could have had a stronger password, but it ultimately started with a selfish scumbag sitting behind a computer screen. I have been ripped off for over $500 from shady people selling me junk or not even shipping the item. I could have been more careful about who I bought from, but in the end there's nothing I can do to get that money back, and I'm not about to start selling my own stuff just to get that money back. It is what it is; there are shitty people out there and the only consolation we can provide is the belief that in the end they will get what they deserve. Being taken advantage of doesn't mean you deserve to sacrifice the things in your life that you worked hard for.
But I guess if selling your e30 accomplishes more than simply atoning for losing that money, then it sounds to me like it could make a big difference in your life.

So many people think life is resolved by giving up and saying fuck it. If you can't get what you want without working for it, it's not worth having. I can't stand people with that mentality. If you want to make it right, keep your car and stick it through. Find ways to work around it.

I really wish there was a clearer way for me to illustrate to you all why I came to this decision. As I said before, I wrestled with doing the same a little over a year ago. This car, and what it's represented to me is a multi-faceted thing. I've made some of the best friends of my life through this group, which I wouldn't trade for anything, and I've also managed to create one of the largest distractions of my life. It's been nearly all-consuming, and that's my own fault. It's also along the way, put me in the situation I'm in now. In order to for me to not only fix this problem, but also to put my focus where it belongs, I have to walk away from it for now.
I'm not in dire financial straits, I'm not selling it so I can pay mountains of credit card debt off or something, I don't have any. What I have done is put more time and money into this car than I put into almost any other aspect of my life. I think about the house I could have owned by now, the bills I pushed aside, the money I've spent that I didn't really have on multiple sets of wheels, seats, engines, you name it.
My family deserves better than my attention devoted to a car and a website, and this group of people deserves to have a situation like this one rectified by the person responsible, by making a sacrifice that will ultimately benefit more in the long run than it stings in the short term.

I truly hope your doing the right thing and not jumping to this conclusion just because of the events that happened. I also hope that after you get your self going in the right direction you come back to us in the e30 scene.
