When Nate bought it, he drove it back from LV. He then brought it to a mutual friend to do the timeng belt/ wp change out. After taking the lower timing gear off, it was revealed that the gear was never fully tightened down causing the gear key to mushroom. When seeing that, Nate decided to just refresh the entire bottom end. Upon going through the head, it was decided that the head was pretty low mileage and that a seal kit was all it really needed due to everything being in spec. Nate's build thread should be a testement to his care and love for this car. It has the right owner, with the right attention to detail.
My E30 was originally owned by Andre Agassi?

Considering it's rarity, and how shipping companies are ruining cars ;), I don't blame him for wanting to drive it back. Plus, come on, what a rad drive in a vert!Yours truly,
Rich

It is part of the M-technic package from BMW. AKA M-tech II.
It is something that was originally made as part of the car from the factory, however, you may be able to source some of it from a dealer as an accessory. Or just find it used. There are also some replica sources from various suppliers.Last edited by mtechnic; 01-04-2012, 02:50 PM.'91 325ic M-Technic, '12 Civic Si, '07 TL Type-S

I've always wanted to drive across the country, so this was an opportunity to do so. I wish I had more time to sight see.
It wasn't really a question of cost. In fact, I could have shipped it for much less than what it cost me to drive. Airfare, fuel, vacation days, etc. I just thought that it would have been a cool experience, which it was. I am not a convertible guy, but driving down Route 66 at sunset/sunrise with the top down is pretty enjoyable. I saw desert, mountains, plains, rivers, teepees, the hometown of Carrie Underwood (yes there was a sign stating "Checotah, Oklahoma: Proud hometown of...), a massive meteor crater in north AZ, and even a Prius running over a rabbit.
Like Rich said, the engine was in need of a rebuild. There was a time when I was driving up a mountain in north AZ, and 18-wheelers were passing me because I was decelerating even though the pedal was to the floor. Its a good feeling when you go through an engine like this. Good to know exactly what and when things have been replaced.
I'll go into more detail with a build thread in the future.'91 325ic M-Technic, '12 Civic Si, '07 TL Type-S

Maybe it would be wise to keep the same engine block in the car to keep the serial numbers matching.
And I would really love to see a chrome kidney on that thing.
Yep, I'm typing this from negative town. I should be back to positive town sometime this month...

In trying to do a googe image search to see if there were ever any archive Agassi photos with BMW's, I came across this:

I believe that is one of those Vectors. He is known for his relationship with them, and the fact that he returned the car to them because it had overheating problems.
