This thread hurts my head so much, almost all of you when you have kids or get a little bit of money will buy a NEW car, truck, suv, or minivan.

Lot of 80's cars looked like shit as well... Topaz, corssica, taurus, civic, corolla etc etc.... I think cars are actually looking better as of late. espc in the economy class.

Some statements in this thread are retarded,,, Ill never own a post 95 car,,,, really. Good luck 10-20yrs from now keeping that on the road...

Also, the new f30 is 300-400 lbs lighter then the e90 if I am correct.

Anyway, design is def subjective but I thougt bangles designs were actually pretty good, a lot of other manufacturers thought so as wel,l as they copied them,,, the trunks espc the 7,5er were directly influnced by the e30m3 trunk.

my rant, I am oldish. As there is no way I would drive a cj7 with only lap belts again. Saftey, or the illusion of, can be nice.

                  imo...

I do not have the coin to have a GTR on my driveway so an e30 will do. I too like the retro Challenger and the Camaro but would no spend my monies on one. There are plenty of new cars including the Hyundai Genesis coupe that look and go nice and at a decent price point.

Another part of this is the safety. I just test drove a new RX350 and really liked it for the family. It had plenty of bells and whistles to make the family happy. The only thing I dont like about it is that it doesnt move me. The soul of a well built classic car moves me personally but im sure I wouldnt kick a new M3 out of the garage.

I will send you pictures 10-20 years from now when both my 318is and 280z are not only both still running, but are better then new in every single way. (not to mention I will be still be driving two of the cars I could only dream of driving growing up) That's just me though, if I can save the 10-20 grand that a lot of people waste on a new car every 3-7 years and instead use it to travel, make a good life for my child in this crazy world and build the house of my dreams, I'll do it.

Also note, nothing beats the feeling of smoking some teenage girl with a rich daddy driving her brand new 2011 autotragic camaro, in my 4 cylinder m42 318is.

Also 80's produced some pretty sweet cars, 280ZX was still good looking.

Yeah... looks terrible. Meets USDOT safety standards as well.

A buddy of mine just bought one. MOST. INCREDIBLE. CAR. EVER.

For the most part, yes. But I see myself being in the position to purchase one way later on in life. An E30 can only do so much...unless I get an S54 ix touring.........hmmmmm

                          Interesting thread.
My personal opinion is that car design "tends" to reflect society's current preferences. As a gray-hair I've seen it happen alot. I'm inclined to categorize today's designs as the Bling Era; that applies not just to cars but watches, clothes ... lots of things. With cars there are other issues, of course but this is definitely not one of my favorites and I suspect one that will not age well.
Don't even get me started on the infamous "Bungled" designs!

this thread is stupid (there are lots of nice looking "new" cars), but I will not likely ever buy a brand new car.. and I'm not a broke college student either. I just can't stand the thought of paying $30,000+ for something that will be worth maybe $5k in less than 10 years. it's absolutely retarded.

I'd rather be on the other end of that transaction. For example, E46 M3s are becoming cash cars... just watch how fast their market values drop!

actually, my mother in law thinks I need a new car because mine's old. She definitely doesn't "get it". but whatever. Maybe i could use that as an excuse to get an E46 M3 when some poor smuck has to sell it for $7,000 to buy a new F30 M3 for $70,000.

I almost got crushed by a hybrid Silverado the other day, huge and quite as a mouse, that shit just isn't right. Would've died without a clue.

                              Hybrid, the silent killer....

The "electric only" mode in the Silverado only goes up to 5 mph. You couldn't see a huge pickup truck coming at you at a crawl pace?

Without subsidies, Diesel makes no sense at all in the American market, Hybrids are an excellent solution for fuel economy based on most american driving styles and vehicle tastes.
