Some of the posts are making me pretty happy with what I've got in to my M50 sedan build.
This is the first street car I've done a spreadsheet on.

        1986 325e Sedan 600
        sold front seats -80

        1992 325i engine donor $500,
after parting out rest of car $0

        325iX brake booster 130
        e34 oil pan & parts 165
        clutch, e28 motor mounts 385
        resurface flywheel 68
        water pump, pulley, t-stat 88
        headers 110
oil pan gasket, wiring cover 96
        guibo, intake gaskets, other 75
        starter 125
        air filter 15
        exhaust system 411
        wiring covers 86
        e10 brake reservoir + grommets 47
        title xfer, tags 115

        Superfluous parts, Bonus parts
        hood badge 20
        tires/wheels 1021

        Total $3477

        Still to come
        Springs
        Shocks
        Suspension arms/bushings
        Projector headlights
        A/C custom hoses & service
        Miscellaneous small repairs
        Estimate another grand or so.

        As it sits now.

My racecar is closer to 14 grand

6 years ago i bought mine for 2k and since i have about 7k into it. a lot of maintenance, and majority was shop labor from when i was younger and needed to have them do the work for me. since i have had a lot less in to due to me working on it myself.

My e30 cost me my virginity at a young age and six years of my life in a Russian labor camp. Not necessarily in that order...

Really tho I'm probably in the $4500-$5000 range with the initial purchase/transport home and m30 swap

                        89 325is

                        Initial cost- $900

After control arms & bushings, two tires, rear shock mounts, driveshaft guibo and center bearing, minor exhaust and engine items, many various misc items, and sport seats replaced, I am currently at around $2500.00 invested at this point.

The small misc pieces can add up thats for sure.

As of last week: $25,511.46 :( I should have never started a log book. Only paid 3k of it for the car itself.

once you pass $10k you start thinking, "man, i could have bought an m3 for this money."

Haha exactly. I think about everything else I should have bought instead.
