You cannot tow with an Enterprise vehicle. If something goes wrong, you will be out the entire cost of the truck repairs plus pay the rental fee for each day it's in the shop. No, your insurance won't cover it.right, to rent/ return to a location is cheap. but to rent a truck from enterprise on a one way destination adds like $200. to 'ship' a vehicle is like $1000. I just went back there in December And don't feel like goin back 11hrs on a cheap train to just drain more money to move the car. anyone know of a cheap place to Rey cars for one way trips? haha

How do I know? I wrote the contract.

Get a cheap M20 and have a swap party. I bet you could even dig up some local guys to lend a hand and get it done quick. Take advantage of the community.Comment

If you have some "liquid" cash to play around with, its pretty damn easy to buy a truck that'll make the trip easily for around $1500 and then sell it when you get to your destination.www.truegearhead.com

I used to tow my 1973 Delta 88 lowrider with 10 batteries and 4 hydraulic pumps in the trunk (that made the rear of the trailer very heavy)all over Germany. I once thought I could tow it with a Mercedes Wagon- made it about 5 miles and turned around!!!!!!
with too much weight on the trailer and a light car, it will "lift the rear of the towing vehicle. That lets the tongue steer in whichever direction it wants, once it start swaying, its VERY hard to get it back!
Once had a front airbag blowout on my buddies Dodge Ram while towing my Delta 88- same thing happened as in that video- but luckily he saved it- took all 3 lanes of the Autobahn.

A tow bar is o.k. for a few miles, but I think from NM. to Cali is a bit far!Comment

Not really. A properly loaded trailer matched to a correct tow vehicle should be stable at speeds well in excess of the limits of the trailer tires.

The issue here is that the guy was using an improperly loaded trailer of the wrong type on a too small tow vehicle. Look how high up that E36 was sitting. That in and of itself makes me cringe. It's a narrow trailer with a high center of gravity, which is pretty much the worst case scenario. On top of that, the trailer looked like one of those awful steel things which are completely unsuitable for light tow vehicles. (My open trailer weighs 2,000lbs., but that's a rounding error with my truck.)

Mostly, though, the there just wasn't enough tongue weight and the guy didn't do one of the things you can do to save it: 1) floor it, or 2) use the brake control to brake the trailer. Really, the third option of BOTH is the best and fastest.2006 GMC Sierra 2500HD 4WD LBZ/Allison
