Not saying I was for abs or taction control at the time or now, but at least they were relevent to road cars.

The fia should really relax all the mechanical bans such as active suspension etc. Not that it would improve overtaking, as once it proves effective, the whole of the field quickly develops it. Basically how kers was used by itself, more or less, made passing harder. I still belive their should be a displacement cap and let the teams go about theiir powertain however they please.... Ferrari you can build 3.2 litre v12's Renault you can build 2 litre turbo fours if thats whats relevent to your roadgoing market... and let the racing dictate the best option. Also bring back refueling to make the engineers think a little more about fuel consumption. If you want to give the allusion of being green absurd as that notion is. The teams will come up with the best solutions.

The sport has invested too much money in all of this junk to just drop it and develop other means for downforce and corner grip.
Adding more aero development will only bring the cars back to the parade days, rag on philistine American fans all you want, but that shit is BORING regardless of how amazing the cars are.

Some of the tracks DRS is wrong, but the tracks where they have the distance/start points right, it works great. Help cars that are fundamentally faster get a CHANCE to pass on the brakes. When the breeze by on the straights..............I don't like that either.

Push to pass.............uhhhh, the cars ahead have it to, you could just as easily call it push to defend.

No refueling..............the teams asked for it because the equipment to do it was expensive, space consuming, and removing refueling dramatically increases safety in the pits.............Massa, Singapore anyone?

However, I do think the new V6 turbo rules are retarded......................we want to keep costs down, so obviously the best way to do that is to introduce a NEW engine, more powerful KERS and also introduce a Thermal Energy Recovery System!!!

So, intentionally underfueling the cars doesn't force the engineers to "think about fuel consumption?"

Well it would play a large role in strategy no doubt. Combined this with a displacement cap and it makes fuel consumption a huge factor, which is the context I was refering to. I wouldnt bring it back persay under the current regs, but with engine design freedom absolutely fuel consumption becomes a big factor.

If you read my post, I'm actually against aero development, as it is the cause of all the ''dirty air' which makes following a car closely near impossible. Corner grip doesn't have to be in the form of aero downforce. Greater mechanical grip would be a much better solution. Also, bringing the nose down, which in turn will lower the wishbones closer to horizontal will increase grip and lower speed cornering abilities. I never said specifically aero downforce was the way forward. IMO the 80-90s had the most exciting and raw racing (not that I was there to witness half of it). The way the cars behaved was purely awesome.

So you like the idea of artificial racing? I'm not trying to undermine your opinion- I just don't see how this technology is beneficial to the sport at all. It isn't fixing the problem, just covering it up with a fake solution.

At the moment, yes push to pass. I understand this will be a huge gain to the automotive industry, along with TERM. But a spurt of 6.6 seconds is unnecessary for the time being. WHEN it is introduced as a fully finished system- delivering power from a storage battery whenever the driver touches the accelerator, I will be all for it.

So researching and developing a completely new engine/ drive-train system is a good way of keeping costs down?

Cool pic! I love the Canadian GP.

Vettel whooped up on them in Quali today, he's got that track down.

I'm hoping Grosjean, or even Raikonnen, will be able to pull something out tomorrow.

Insane race.... i might have to re-watch that race to follow what just happened.

Hamilton is an idiot. he was going to lose that spot and should have been thinking points and not position.

Hamilton maybe the fastest guy, def the dumbest. What an idiotic move. Seb should thank him for his stupidity. Great drive by alonso, schumaker, and weber. Button is doing his best massa impression.

Had Hamilton crew not botched the pit stop it could have been the top three points leaders getting dnfs of he took out alonso
