So I was thinking of installing this in my E30...

    Thoughts? LOL
I was wondering what all I would have to go through to pull this off. I was thinking to use one of the center air vent as a mounting point.

You'd be sacrificing an air vent for a gauge that would move VERY little (even if you did some serious hill climbs) on a car with fuel injection (not all that effected by altitude). that would not be the gauge I'd choose if I was looking for something else to stare at on the dash...oil temp or pressure way before that. Lastly it's in Haifa. I'm sure if you were dead set on getting an altimeter, you could source one more locally.

That was just for an example. And its more for the aesthetic purposes. And I do have friends that live in a high elevation. Matt B lives in about 2000+ feet. And I don't really use my middle air vents anyway.

Every day I hop onto R3V to learn something about my e30, find a new project idea, and see what interested things I can find. I am sad to say that after reading this thread, I must continue my search elsewhere.

                    Thanks.

It would be kind of cool if mounted right. If toes helps you or you do it wrong:

unless you live in like, say....western colorado, this would have no use in your car. besides, are you planning to get an app for your iphone to look up the local altimeter setting every time you get in your car? without knowing this, it won't be accurate (possibly several hundred feet off) anyway. that one didn't even look like it had a kohlsman window to make that adjustment.
