Unlatched hoods can cause you to crap your pants.

i've popped my hood open on the freeway when my car was overheating.

how this would cause damage.... i am not sure.

Pressure on both side but not static and clearly not equal

actually, no....the hood is shaped like an airfoil or the wing on an airplane since it is curved. as wind travels over the top of the hood it accelerates due to the curved shape. this creates a low pressure area over the top of the hood thus pulling it "up".

Its a 318ti. I forgot we're all thinking e30 here. At least on an e30 its super obvious is the hood has been left popped open. Also I can't drive to the junkyard without a hood because its too far away and its snowing.

Also I was mudding with my new-to-me LSD to get into my garage. Pretty awesome until your snowies get filled with mud then they are basically slicks.

Really? But what about once the hood starts to open up to much? Once it gets to that point wouldnt it shut agian since all of the air is hitting the flat surface of the hood?

lmao this happened to me in my old car (not bmw), the thing had a wicked rad leak and I was shopping for a replacement car so I didn't want to put another cent into fixing it. I had to constantly top it up and I must have left the hood unlatched as as soon as I got up to speed on the freeway it popped up and cracked my wind shield pretty good...
