Suspension work is usually work gloves, but engine work is usually nitrile gloves.

I guess another quesiton is for those that don't use them, what do you use to clean your hands? I found this stuff works wonders, Zep Cherry Bomb

I worked for an industrial supply company so I could get a sick deal on that, really works well and smells good enough to eat.

I use disposable gloves for really dirty stuff, bare hands if I need to have any sort of feel, and mechanix gloves for the rest. I prefer the mechanix gloves just to keep my hands more intact, I have an amazing way of making myself bleed somehow damn near every time I do anything of substance to a car.

I do the same. Free nitrile gloves ftw.

My wife cringes at the sight of my hands.
As far as texture goes.. When Im doing finish drywall.. I can literally sand the wall with my bare hand.

When I shake a mans hand, and their hand is really soft I immediately think less of them

I usually start off wearing mechanics gloves but always end up taking them off within 10 minutes of any project. Gloves just get in the way.

I know exactly what you mean, I get freaked out and start thinking they are child molester types and tend to stay away from those people then- weird I guess

we get these for free- they are pretty thin and hold up for a few weeks. It's dipped in some kind of rubber, kinda the texture of wrinkle paint.

Joe's hand scrub is my favorite hand cleaner. Reminds me of my dad's Zep Reach from when I was little. And the stuff uses plastic balls instead of pumice which is much nicer on your hands.

Depending on what I'm working on, but I have a ton of gloves and half the time end up barehanding anyway...

$4 gloves from Autozone are amazing. Not too think and don't get torn up like latex. Good grip.

I try to use Mechanix gloves or something similar most of the time.

Sometimes I have to take them off for dexterity's sake, but not as often as I used to.

When I'm doing brakes, fluid changes, lots of degreasing, etc., then I use Nitrile or equivalent to keep that crap off my skin.

The more I lift & work on cars, the softer my hands get. When I stop, I get callouses.

My hands are like buttah right now, no callouses at all. Been wrenchin on the race car a lot.

i personally can't stand wearing gloves so my hands are always dirty and black. after 25 years of working on cars, houses, tractors, farm equipment, and whatever else, my hands are pretty scarred up and rough. i always seem to have an itch or two on my face while i am working on something so my face is always dirty and black too. i think i am going to go to autozone and try those 4 dollar gloves mentioned above. i don't have a lot of faith that they will stay on my hands though.

as far as cleaning up after having sex with my car, try using laundry detergent. used with an old wash cloth, this stuff is amazing for taking the dirt away. i have a big bottle of fast orange pumice in the gallon jug that my gf picked up for me. i hate that crap. it doesn't work very well and the feel of the pumice on the back of my hands is like scratching nails across a chalk board.

I never wear gloves. Just can't stand the loss of feeling with anything on. My hands to get really dried out though from exposure to chemicals and washing them. I use this stuff, works great for me, just usually means I have dirty fingernails.
