Check the sig \/ \/ No roof FTW

but seriously i think the majority of the chatter you hear over slicktops is based around actual preference. whatever overblown excessive drooling you see is just bandwagoneers acting like there doing whats "cool". and maybe to them cool=exclusive. and slicktops=exclusive..ish. idk.. just a theory.

My old E30 had pop out windows. Confirming that pop out windows are indeed awesome.

            Then you must not compete.

Finding a way to shave 20 lbs off the car is like finding gold.

The sunroof, particularly, is weight in the worst possible place -- at the top of the car.

OK, this makes the equation completely different, and yes, the OP is correct here.

I just replaced my sunroof this past weekend in my coupe project. Stupid me thought it was a grand idea to open the sunroof after who know how many years. After a rust and debris shower, in addition to the snapping noises I heard, it had to be done.

I can now see why people would like slicktops. As much as I enjoy my sunroof, it is one more component that is most likely to break.

I love my sunroof.. it's never given me a problem, either. They shouldn't "leak" if your drains are clear - BMW is clever enough to realize you can't seal out the water from the top, so they just gave it somewhere to go. stop parking under fucking trees, and wash your car once in a while. :)

I wish my M3 didn't have a sun roof. I never open the thing, its always just a little misaligned, and yes the weight is up high, and I can feel that its there when I drive. I'll take the lower center of gravity and greater structural rigidity any day of the week. Oh yeah, I have the pop out rear windows as well :) (Sorry had to gloat.) I'd trade the pop out rear windows for a full set of EVO3 light weight windows however.

Yes, my M3 is my daily driver, and yes I do autocross it. I'll trade looks or frivolous features for performance any day of the week. Lighter weight is the right weight every time ;)

Cleaner look, I do wish my car was without one and I have 0 sunroof related issues.

I always assumed it was just for rarity, but this is r3vlimited and everything is a racecar. I know for my track car I'm giong to put some aluminum brackets in and epoxy in a sheet of carbon fiber.

What? Have you ever been in a non sunroof E30 they have more headroom then an E30 with a sunroof.

headroom is the only honest reason I can see removing it. I'm 6'2" and have plenty of headroom with helmet on - but it depends on your body shape and seat position too.
