The difference between countries comes down to taxes and subsidies," said Tom Kloza, the chief oil analyst for Oil Price Information Service. "Prices are incredibly high in Europe because of the stiff taxes that EU countries put on fuel. The same holds true for many other countries.

Does Norway have free healthcare, correct? Then the taxes that come from Oil most likely to subsidizes healthcare. We don't as you know. Bitching about fuel costs because most of the profits of fuel here go right into big oil's coffers.

Or road system are in horrible disrepair and yet we pay average 35 cents a gallon towards gas tax which was meant to offset costs of repairs on the roads. It's normally mismanaged and used in some other program.

fuck the arabian oil countries and south america. crack our own reserves, and let the government build a couple of their own refineries, sell us gas for 3.00 a gallon. after a couple years or less of no one buying their oil., the price will drop. starve them mother fuckers out. time to put the 2.93 and factory chip back in. i do 100 a day. the least the govt should do is let any one that needs to drive over a certain distance for work deduct it from their taxes.

i ride a 125 cc scooter to and from work Yamaha Vino 125. filling my tank from empty used to cost $4.30ish, now I'm up to $5.10. At least a tank gets me one day short of 3 weeks of commuting
If it's got tits or tires, it's gonna cost ya!

Show me where in the tax law it says I can deduct the mileage driving to and from work?

If I'm at work and they ask me to go somewhere, or use my personal vehicle to go out of town, sure. But not just to get back and forth to work.

Look at what the quote Long Tall ETA said. He never said to and from work, he said "for work", Not to work.

Not arguing, as you cannot deduct to and from work. But FOR work (On the clock) it's completely allowed.

LOL light weights about $1.60 litre here for 98 octane. About $6 a gallon for your 92 or what every your premium is.

The way he worded it I was thinking he meant, if you have a long commute you should be able to write it off.

Because if you are driving "for work" you can write off all of it, regardless of how little.

Yeah but your population is generally healthy and educated. I'd pay a bit more for gas is I knew everyone I was around had the opportunity to become healthy and read.
