Why did BMW do this?

    Well I'll say this much. I have years of track experience. I am a driver and less of a bench racer. I want to be on the track. In my personal opinion the price of entry is not worth the cost... It's cool and all but all of that stuff means little to me when I am tracking my car. I'd rather have a 24V swap, coilovers, tires and brake upgrades. The rest of the cash saved is spent on well... actually driving the car and not looking at my E30 in the garage.

    Sorry that in my personal opinion the E30 M3 is over hyped. For those that are not wanting to go to the track this might change. You can hang out in the parking lot and talk about the racing history of your E30 m3 ;)




    If you want to play that game I am fine with that... And that's a nice supercharger but I prefer a turbo ;)

    And My E30...well I actually use it at the track for what your E30 m3 was designed for. The track where the car was born. However it's where you rarely see one.

      nice cars!I miss my other cars I sold but just cant keep everything I owned.
      I defiantly would not track my e30 m3.
      If i had the bank to own two and track I i would but it would have to be a salvaged title one.
      I rather a non m3 e30 to track or a e36 m3.
      I just couldn't imagine wrecking a e30 m3.
      The stock e30 just sucks to drive performance wise.
      off course when modded its a blast.
      The e30 m3 stock is a blast to drive and when modded amazing!!!!!!!!!
      turbo is the way to go for sure just not smog legal .
      The turbo has more issues than supercharger too.
      I have no beef with you I love the same cars just not sure were you get all your thoughts and feeling that are so far off of the e30 m3.
      I have feeling some day in your future is a e30 m3 and you will change your mind.:p

        So let me make sure I'm understanding you correctly: Everything you touch turns to gold?

        How does a stock E30 suck to drive but a stock E30 M3 doesn't? Maybe it is the 10mm in tire width? Oh it's probably the aluminum control arms. Or is it because you can pretend you are a DTM racecar driver from the 90's?

          I'm just talking out my ass man I have know idea. You'r right stock e30 just Awsome performance and a stock e30 m3 really is just the same as a 325 is is.You know both you guys are right what was I thinking.
          E30 m3 just a waste of money and drives no different than the non m3.
          Dam I should have kept my super eta what a dumb as for buying this e30 m3.
          All that hype I fell for and dreaming I'm a race car driver .
          So either one you guys want to trade me my e30 m3 just realize what a fool i'm .Cant imagine that you would take a bmw base car and do all these engineered racing mods to it from the BMW racing division.After all that and it drives handles just like the same car it started out as, what a waste time those guys put into it.

                It drives the same as a regular 3 series All the BMW motor sports division guys did it for looks!why own a e30 m3 what waste of time and money .You can get a e30 and it is the same car!
                I can't believe it I'm such a fool I just learned so much from these guys about the e30 m3 I have now I must sell it.
                I will soon be posting a For sale section wanted 1986-1990 e30 325e,IS, for trade Of my e30 m3.
                I really hate the e30 m3 now what a over priced bmw with nothing but wide flares and aluminum arms on it.
                I must start tracking my new e30 325is too so I'm a real racer much like the driving legends of the 80's.

                  uh, yeah. Other than the engine and the flares, the e30 M3 isn't much different than any other run of the mill e30. Sorry to burst your bubble. Yet, it is the engine and the flares that make it so different than the run of the mill e30.

                    It's pointless to argue whether the E30 M3 is worth it because it obviously depends on what school of thought you're from. If you like to go fast at the track on a budget and don't care about history/looks, etc, then a modded E30 (perhaps E36 instead?) makes way more sense today than it ever did mainly due to the skyrocketing price of the E30 M3. Even when these were new, the M3 was only marginally better (performance wise) than the 325i. It doesn't make sense to track the M3 anymore because getting into one costs a lot and the costs to mod the S14 is insanely expensive. I don't take mine out to the track anymore because of this. Many owners don't because it's become more than just a car, it's become a highly desired collectible that we want to keep and preserve. So what if the owners prefer to pamper/showoff/talk about their car these days? You enjoy tracking, some enjoy spirited drives and show & tell while also protecting their investment. There are different types of enthusiasts out there so let's respect each other.

                      lol so true I totally agree really just the same car!
                      the flares and the motor are only difference between the two cars.
                      Evan at that the flares are just oem metal bent into a shape for stupid look and no functionality.The motor has a radiator and a alternator much like the e30 325.
                      the flares kinda lame and the 4 banger really crappy motor on top that they could have put a v8 in it.
                      so besides the fact that the only differences between the two cars are those two things that in my book just really detract from the cars appeal.
                      I'm learning so much here!

I have driven plenty of E30 M3s and they drive, handle, stop and feel like any other E30. I understand on the track the momentum fun and excite(plus the aural experience) of a high revving and nicely handling E30 M3 is good. However for me one that wants to just track my car I'd rather have a 24V, Coilovers and more on 325iS than the 15-20K E30 M3.

                          You must have missed where I said 'in my opinion' over and over again. And to be blunt I can go buy one. I just plain do not want one. I think they are overpriced and over hyped.

                          And anyone can google cool race footage to prove how awesome one car is... Seen the last 3 minutes of Sebring 2012? E92 M3... so awesome right?


                          E36... look at it blow the doors off that E30 M3! Obviously better cause it's in a YouTube video... Everyone gets so worked up when someone has a difference of opinion on here.

                          Re the Dyslexia. I can actually cause one to no use the correct punctuation, capitals and grammar as the symbols don't make much sense to the person who has them.

                          My gf is dyslexic and she has a hard time with comma's and full stops. She also struggles with spelling as she writes words as they sound so know could be spelt as no.

                          Just a random FYI.

                          I wonder if my m10 turbo would have that amazing sound if I fitted a CF airbox.

                          FYI, cars with tubular suspension and modified suspension pick up points really do transform and e30, m3 or not... just saying y e30 has it all and it's driven on the road... love it. BECAUSE RACECAR WANNA BE

                            I kinda just messing with couple guys here :)Really I love all BMWs thats why I tried to own them all.I just get little shocked how so many guys know so little about the e30 m3 even guys that own 1 or 2 of them.
                            I'm not saying e30 m3 is the best bmw thats all matter of taste and why you drive one.Not even saying if you don't own one that makes some buddy better than you because it doesn't.I would take one of every BMW to drive.
                            just find some people views,thoughts,and feeling really a screw when it comes to one the greatest cars built.If it was not for the non e30 m3 and its predecessors their would be no e30 m3 .

                              I now realize that I should've gotten myself a 316 and ebay turbo kit ... would of been much faster and apparently pretty much the same car anyways ......
