I'm still confused how this happened. I've driven for a couple weeks in deep snow, did get some snow in there, but not like that. I don't have a splash guard, either.Comment

I'm confused about the exhaust having snow packed around it. It generally get's well above freezing temps around the exhaust in the first few minutes after start up.1974.5 Jensen Healey : 2003 330i/5Comment

Not to mention the timing system is pretty well covered and the only spot snow could get in wouldn't cause skipped teeth. Timing belt just died while he drove in snow. Or he hasn't looked at the timing belt and just assumed it broke.
Status: HG repair. 488wtq though!Comment

All that, and you would need solid ice to make it jump. Snow doesn't stand a chance of stopping that belt.No E30 ClubOriginally posted by MrBurgundyAnyways, mustangs are gay and mini vans are faster than your car, you just have to deal with that.Comment

So you drove around long enough to get snow packed up there like that, yet your exhaust wasn't hot enough to melt it? It's crazy that it didn't melt on contact, but then in the time that it took you to park, get your shit, and get it up on stands it still didn't melt? You must have some crazy low EGT's...
And how did you come to the conclusion that snow got behind the timing covers and somehow caused the belt to jump teeth?
This is a fairy tale.

My guess is a timing belt went bad and the cold weather didn't help.So you drove around long enough to get snow packed up there like that, yet your exhaust wasn't hot enough to melt it? My guess is he packed it in there because he forgot to replace the oil drain plug when he changed his oil. Or he tried of offroad with his 4x4 e30 and hit a boulder.~ Puch Cafe. ~ Do business? feedback ~ Check out my leather company ~
