How else would you get that much snow packed in there? You said you got 5" and you have 8" of ground clearance...OH you don't own a hood. Makes sense now!

I'm still confused how this happened. I've driven for a couple weeks in deep snow, did get some snow in there, but not like that. I don't have a splash guard, either.

I'm confused about the exhaust having snow packed around it. It generally get's well above freezing temps around the exhaust in the first few minutes after start up.

So does the oil pan and engine block and well, everything under the hood

But I can touch the engine for a few minutes without it being too hot. Exhaust get's scathingly hot much quicker.

Not to mention the timing system is pretty well covered and the only spot snow could get in wouldn't cause skipped teeth. Timing belt just died while he drove in snow. Or he hasn't looked at the timing belt and just assumed it broke.

                        Status: HG repair. 488wtq though!

All that, and you would need solid ice to make it jump. Snow doesn't stand a chance of stopping that belt.

So you drove around long enough to get snow packed up there like that, yet your exhaust wasn't hot enough to melt it? It's crazy that it didn't melt on contact, but then in the time that it took you to park, get your shit, and get it up on stands it still didn't melt? You must have some crazy low EGT's...

And how did you come to the conclusion that snow got behind the timing covers and somehow caused the belt to jump teeth?

                            This is a fairy tale.

My guess is a timing belt went bad and the cold weather didn't help.

My guess is he packed it in there because he forgot to replace the oil drain plug when he changed his oil. Or he tried of offroad with his 4x4 e30 and hit a boulder.
