Cferb thanks for the search tool btw definitly helpful!
Happens sometimes, I found my Legacy Turbo within a few days of looking, thing is I wasn't looking specifically for it, they're much more rare than e30s though, and it's still the nicest one I've seen, sometimes you just get lucky, other times you just gotta tough it out.

And np, used it a lot looking for an m3.

Also, that black 325is mtechnik posted looks like a great deal, do it!

My first e30 took about 6 months of searching and a couple of day trips to San Diego. My second one took about 20 minutes randomly driving through neighborhoods. Lol

Mtechnik thats actually a nice black one, only downfall is that its all the way down in LA, but ill check it out.

2Man, ive actually seen all of those adds, and the white 4 door needs body work and a tranny swap. im not looking for an auto. ive dealt with that dealer before he's kinda shady, and 5000 is way out of my price range. im looking to spend 2-3000 and make it into project from their.

With the E30 scene starting to become popular, you will be hard pressed to find one in good condition for a good price, especially on the west coast where smog testing is necessary and the cost of living is higher.

I was lucky because not only did the shop I worked at serviced it, but he was very distinct on who he wanted to sell his car to (i.e., wanted someone who appreciated it). He wasn't kidding; a lady offered him $3,000 for it because she "needed a car to drive" and because of that very reason, he told her no. I ended up purchasing it from him for $1,700 and everything in the car works to this day (besides my A/C retrofit; I did that on my own). the right time will come and when you get it, you will be happy that you waited for it. I know I did and I still do.

since you are asking about how we found ours, mine was pure dumb luck. i was talking to a friend getting advice about a corrado vr6 that i was thinking about purchasing to daily and he reminded me after all the fun mods i do it will still be wrong wheel drive (fwd). as the conversation continued he mentioned that he needed to sell his brothers cars and one was an 86 325es. a few days later it was mine.
