So, I drove it last night. It's a fucking blast! My fried who has is bought a broke motocross dude's house, so there's an old track in the backyard. Best test drive ever.

On another note, instead of using the double manifolds on the M52, he used a turbo mani, flipped upside down, and bolted to the down pipe. I plan to eventually flip it back over and mounts a moderate snail to help this pig out a bit.

Thanks for the suggestions! It really needs just a few small things to get it primo, but electric seats, etc, aren't something I'll really worry about. The swap needs cleaned up a but, tucking wires/ecu/relays away, but it runs, drives, and it awesome!\

I've also decided I'm getting a Europlate that reads "BOLLOCKS" for it. That is all.

Pretty much. I heard about the seat switch module crapping out and the brake pump/booster guy being very a lot of $$ and going bad. Running a hydro setup through my head (like e28s had) as I've got two parts 535i cars.

The v8s are great motors, plenty of torque but low hp. In addition to being a bmw nut, I also have a passion for rovers, especially the classic and p38. I saw that one on cl and thought about checking it out but just picked up an e38 to dd.
If its the same one I am thinking about it should make a great truck. The hp of the 3.9 is lower than the m5x but it will suffer some torque loss.

There wasn't any "Rover" V8, just various iterations of the licensed Buick V8. In it's final and most potent form, the 4.6L Rover / Buick V8 was making 225HP.

Gen 3 Range Rovers, launched in 2003, received the BMW V8 displacing 4.4L. By that time, BMW had already sold Land Rover to Ford but agreed to let them purchase engines through 2005. In 2006, IIRC, the Rangie got a reworked version of the Jaguar V8 which is still used today in both NA and supercharged variants.

Its a rover v8, because rover bought the rights to use it in the early 70s.
Its English tooled and its a fucking rover v8.

Although Buick did the engine initially, Rover took it and ran with it, over boring it, tying to make it into a diesel, etc.

Well, now it has a BMW L6, so moot point. HP is about on, just need to make up some torque.

They suck to work on. british people put cars together funny. half SAE bolts half Metric... lots of stuff hard to get to, cheesy build quality on alot of the car but for some reason they are super expensive... but thats cool.. a bimmer 6 cyl in a rover!. the trucks used the same 4hp trans as an e30 used, so i guess a bellhousing swap would make it all work

We work on them they are not all that bad,as long as you do a spring and shock swap from air suspension your golden. I had a 2000 discoII and loved it untill i got divorced and i was forced to sell it. My dads friend in bitterroot montana has one (98 range rover) and swears by it. 03 to 05 range rovers are pieces of shit when bmw owned them, sorry to say but they are. When ford took over the company in 06 the trucks were much more reliable with the ford drivetrain.;)

This is 100% true. The BMW engined rovers are complete shit. For some reason the Jag built ones are much better in quality.

Likely because Jaguar has their heads screwed on when it comes to quality control now.
