i changed to dunlop direzza z1s and got +2mpg. i get 22mpg now.

              i consider that hyper miling.

didnt alpina get 47mpg with their test bed eta? with the ridiculous front end on it?

i run 175/70/14's in winter. My MPG's have seriously shot thru the roof compared to my summer 205/50/16's!

I like coasting down hills, and I don't use brakes much, but without a working odo it's hard t say.

I only got 21.1 mpg out of my last tank. But, it was on 87 octane because
the gas station was out of premium when I filled it with that tankful.

The sticker at the filler says to use premium - 1991 318i with M42 -
but I didn't hear any pinging on regular. Maybe I need to advance the
timing a bit. And check compression.

Or add a supercharger so that I can glue on a Mercedes "Kompressor"
emblem. And make the other emblem "318ik" :)
