I actually like that idea - but can you build a roll cage that still allows use
of the rear seats and all four doors?

No one seemed to want to race when I was driving with me an my two kids in the
car wearing our Taekwondo uniforms. I think they might have been afraid we'd
go ninja on them at the next stop light.
I'm now at an age where I think about convenience.
30 years ago, I'd have been okay with welding the doors shut,
roll cage, racing seats and 5 point harnesses.

Now, I want cup holders & I don't want to fold my seat forward to let
my kids get in the back seats. (I hate when someone messes with the
    settings on my driver's seat)

My e36 m3 sedan had a roll bar and I always rolled the windows down. I couldn't get anyone to race me.
Same story with my friends s50 e30.

That's exactly my point. The S2000 is a beautiful car. I'd love to have one.
But it isn't "Better" than a Miata or an MR2 Spyder or a Z3/Z4 or an RX7/RX8 or a Supra or a Nissan Z car.
or a Pontiac Solstice, or a Chrysler Crossfire or a Porsche Boxster... It's just a different choice.

Show some empirical test data, rather than a review that says "It' bitchinner"

New Honda is fail. Old Honda is awesome.

the only true Honda I was ever impressed with was my CBR600RR. Other than that, nothing ever caught my eye. I have driven an S2000, but it's nothing outrageously awesome.
Yeah, yeah. You drove an S2000 around the block. Drive it at the limits. Absolutely phenomenal car whether stock, time attack'd, or boosted.

And torque doesn't matter on the track where 99% of your time is spent in the S2000's powerband. The engine is insanely well-designed and can handle a shit ton of extra power if necessary. I just watched a guy hit 800+ whp on a stock block F22c AP2 S2000. While I prefer my E30 over an S2000 and would rather DD an E36 M3, I loved my S2000 while I had it and I'll buy another one again someday as a track only 3rd car. :-D Definitely one of the best cars ever made and 'lol no torque' is a failure argument to make from someone who has probably spent 10 minutes in one.
