Why do Hondas want to race?

High school Honda owners always want to race! I drive a stock 91' 318is to my school and some Honda kids were asking to race for awhile until i said OK... surprisingly his single came stayed next to me until the end of 3rd gear...which i found weird because my eta had beat one from the start to the end of the race -
what year accord did you owned??This morning I was coming in to work, just taking it easy.
I'm in the middle of 3 lanes, a large gap behind me and
maybe 1/2 car length in front of me. It's easy to see that
the right lane has to turn ahead (and most people know it anyways).
Some guy comes flying down the right lane until just before it ends,
and just has to go around me on the right and try to cut in front
of me.
Guess what kind of car it was.
Honda has a few nice cars - the S2000 is pretty cool.
I don't consider the NSX a Honda. They make some nice
open wheel race cars.
But, most Hondas are front wheel drive, so I don't want one.
If it cranks your tractor, go for it, but Hondas are not for me.
But, it's the typical Honda driver that we were complaining about.Leave a comment:

Suck your own teeth. i have a '67 RS/SS Camaro still kickin the shit outta most cars on the street. But.... new chevy is a different story though, so i'm not tryin to be a douche.
and I didnt want to come off as being hasty and down play all honda's, I'm just kinda irritated by those that do exactly as I described. And [I]that[I] stigma irritates me. nothing against the clean honda's with the drivers that know what they have. simply put.Leave a comment:

actually, I forgot - just the other day, I was accelerating pretty moderately from a 2 lane intersection, and I guess the SUV next to me thought I was racing, so he hammers it to pass me. lol. I was maybe 1/3 throttle, and shifting at 3k, but it was making enough noise to get his attention I guess..Leave a comment:

well.....I don't waste my time on them. I know I have a classic BMW and it will outperform, outlast, and certainly outrank any Civic that is ever produced. Period.
The E30 is revolutionary to this day and I see magazines STILL using it as a comparison to even the brand new 3 series. How often does Honda do that? FUCKING NEVER.

Yes they are.
:twisted::loco::jk:
We had an accord. It was reliable. It was still a POS. I hated it.
I never said the Chevy sprint was not a POS - it was a terrible POS.
The accord was worse though. Both were reliable.
(Chevy sprint = Geo Metro = Suzuki swift - those engines are so
reliable that - homebuilt aircraft use them quite often. They also
like Subaru boxer engines and of course the old air cooled VW.
The sprint was more fun to drive, but was a tin can. Tolerable.
If I wanted the ultimate in reliability, I would buy a Toyota.
I have an MR2 and a 4Runner, and my first and only brand new car
was a 1981 Toyota 4X4 Longbed Pickup. I put almost 200,000 miles
on it before I sold it to my Nephew. He put about 60k more and sold
it to one of his inlaws. Last I heard, it had about 350,000 miles, but
was still reliable (probably beginning to smoke by then).
I would have got a 1980's MKIII Toyota Supra, but the BMW gets much
better mileage.
But really, of all the cars I have ever owned, the Accord is probably
the only one I hated. The ergonomics felt wrong, it handle poorly,
and was as gutless as my old 1970 VW Beetle.
I know people who love their Hondas. That's part of why we bought
that car. Now I'm wondering what sort of happy cigarettes the smoked
in their Hondas. As said above - different strokes. There were some
successful autocrossers racing Hondas in Huntsville Alabama. Back then,
in that area, Miatas were the most popular autocrossers. That was around
1999, IIRC.
When we got the BMW a few weeks ago, I was not super excited -
it seemed to much like a practical commuter car. But it has grown on
me, and the more I drive it, the more I like it.
Of the cars I've owned, the ones I wish I still had are my VW Bug,
my 1968 Camaro, and my 1985 3/4 ton Heavy Duty 6.2 Diesel
Suburban. Maybe also my Toyota 4X4, and most of all... my first car,
which my dad built out of a fiberglass aux tank from an airplane
(split it down the middle and built in the area between - it resembled
a Jaguar XKE). He's 87 now, and I would love to find that car and buy
it back to restore it. I even remember the license plate number...
TYN555 (Calif). But I haven't had any luck finding it yet - no one
can remember the name of the guy I sold it to (someone my Dad
worked with). I need to at least find some pictures.
The old Fox body Mustang was a fun car. Not awesome, but fun.
Difficult to drive it well - in the right hands it had potential to
perform okay though.
But on long trips, nothing beats the comfort and convenience of
our PSD Ford Excursion. Space for musical instruments, juggling
equipment, and camping gear without sacrificing elbow space.
And it will tow a house... maybe even a small planet.
I would love to have a Type 181 VW "Thing", but they command
more money than they should. Someday I'll buy a beater and
restore it.
Would love an H1 Hummer, but they don't have nearly as much interior
space as the Excursion.Last edited by Mark 42; 05-09-2012, 08:24 PM.Leave a comment:

whenever i drive my car through east LA i get fanboys revving at me and downshifting all the time. i have to say that nearly every time it's an older honda hatch on cheap wheels, cheap suspension, no muffler and lots of stickers. my car isn't exactly high and above that (i'm on XXRs too), but i don't go around looking for trouble. that's just an observation from growing up in los angeles. i get a lot of guys in clapped out e36s trying to do the same shit, but i don't think i've ever had another OBD1 or earlier bmw guy try that shit on me.Leave a comment:

It's the ginormous diesel trucks that are always ready to race me. I just let them go on their merry way.Leave a comment:
