Well with my CDL and working for a family owned company I'm not too concerned with layoffs considering I'm even going back to school next spring with money I already saved, money's not an issue, I've had money for a long time prior I mostly am curious as to what other peoples suggestions would be as where to begin with mods If I can make my car my way with 500 dollars then all the better. Thanks for the life lesson though I've been here and I have seen the rise and fall of the oil fields a couple times. If you have a company truck then why worry about doing 10k in mods to your car. The Oil patch is boom and bust man, you may have a job making bank today. A stroke of a pen from DC, or any other plethora of variables and the ride could be over for many years, not to mention Natural Gas prices are in the shitter right now. drillers are cutting NG drilling/exploration back sharply for the year. Low man on the pole get the ax 1st, have seen it many many times, kid gets job and spends money like a fool only to get the ax 3 months latter.

I say save your coin and and be smart with your money, and dont be spending anything you dont have too right now. In the patch as green hand your Job security is about as good as pizza lasting 10mins at a weight watcher convention.

Don't need or want a truck. My work provides me a service truck (plus I just don't like them). I wish my dad was giving me the money but that's not the case. I work there right now mrsleeve!

$10k in modifications doesn't go too far if you're playing with the big boys, but last time I bought one for 10ish grand it had an S38. You'll likely get more for your money buying than building.

IMHO, I'd never dump that much $ into an e30..unless it was an m3. You'll never get your $ back, esp. if the car were totalled in an accident (or hit and run, etc.)

I would be buying something 4wd and reliable to make sure I get my ass to work. I have worked around Wamsutter and it fucking snows there. Also bosses dont take kindly to "I cant get to work because my "CAR" wont go in the snow". Once you have the DD taken care of then you can Dump the 10k into your fun car, its time to be responsible. I would be getting a 6-8 year old 1/2 ton at BARE minimum, but oil field and pipeline ROW roads are not too kind to 1/2 tons, 3/4 ton would be better. Also a older 3/4 GMT400 Suburban would be acceptable as well. Can be had Cheap and Cheap to fix and Maintain, as well as easy to work on.
