I have one. Going in next week, I'm regluing the mounts this weekend.

The real question is: who's got the sunshade and mechanism too? I pulled everything from a parts car in Cleveland with Jeepman a few weeks ago. Car cost less than the roof was worth by about half.

Damn you huys are lucky ,over this way if you wait and ask and wait and ask you may eventually find one and a bidding war starts ..... and they normally go for about 550-700 euros :O

If I ever find one of these in a junkyard I am definitely selling it in Ireland.

Damn, if I'm ever hard up for cash I'll sell mine in Europe. I saw a NOS kit with sunshade for sale on S14 a while back, iirc it was around $1,200.

I will follow this route when I have the funds. I love the moonroof on my E46, so why not get one for an E30?

I've been yarding at at least more than 5 different yards for the passed 9 months and haven't come across any. Came across some other rare stuff, but never a Sunroof...

Also knew a guy that's been yarding for longer than I can count; he's only come across one ever
yeah i know. i've been going to junk yards for about 4 years now and didnt believe it when i found this one.

what are you using for glue? the aluminum top rail isnt stuck on all the way around and one of the mounting brackets fell off of mine.

also, do you know if it can be directly swapped for the normal metal one since i dont have a slider?

I'm using Loctite Hysol E-20NS epoxy for the brackets, the surround is fully intact on mine. I was going to use a urethane based adhesive so I contacted my dad for advice since he's an industrial engineer. He recommended and got me the adhesive and a pack of mixing tips for under $20. If you're local to me I'd be willing to share with you.

When I was searching I saw the japandrew used regular rtv to rebond his metal surround. Any adhesive that bonds metal to glass would be OK I think. I was more worried about the mount points.

Best I can tell if you're not going to have a sunshade it will be a direct swap. The rails and slides are different to allow for the shade to fit and open with the roof. Since you got it out of the car, I would recommend going back to the yard and taking every part of the mechanism you can carry. Might come in handy if you ever decide to add the shade later.

There were 2 part numbers for the glass roof option; one kit with the shade and another kit without the shade. Perhaps the one you found was without? You have to remove all the rails to get the shade out so if you pulled the glass it may not have had one to begin with. I have the part numbers for both kits on my computer somewhere if you want them.

You would think with the demand, some glass company would start making them for 200 bucks a pop.

you learn something new every day! i would like to know the part numbers if you have them. IIRC, it was a dealer option, not a BMW option right?
