What about a remote mount turbo like in the rear in place of a muffler? I've seen kits made for Camaro's and Mustangs. No need to run an intercooler because you have like 8 ft of intake that runs under the car.

run anti lag. With the amount of pipe between the turbo and exhaust valve there should be no issue with over heating or damaging the turbo blades.

Personally, I'd like to see someone stuff a 5.9l Cummins in an E30.

This has been in my mind for a while. 5.0 swap just isn't offensive enough.

Use a Gen3+ small block or it's not even worth it. I've been debating going to a 6.2 in my trans am and putting the 6.0 in the bmw.

well a 5.7 LS1 has been put in, but it's such a huge engine. doesnt look right. i think ~4.5 liter v8s are probably a perfect size for the e30. m60s look great in an e30.

Because an engine's displacement has everything to do with outward physical dimensions.

Rear mounted turbo setups aren't as bad lag-wise as you'd initially think. The volume isn't that much worse than a huge intercooler some ricers are putting on an SR with a T25.

What about the L33 5.3 motor that they used in trucks. That would be a perfect candidate to turbo.

i think a GM 6.2/6.5 turbo diesel would fit nicely in the bay.

I saw a setup like this on a gold saturn sedan last weekend. had to bend down to take a look at all the piping, pretty stealthy setup.

Was going to say the same thing. Ive seen one of these on a motor stand at my boss's garage, the oil pan is very deep (like most full size diesels)

If you want to go full redneck, take out the back seat and stuff that dinosaur in there.

That will never ever ever happen. The motor is long, weighs over 1000 pounds, and the oilpan is HUGE. Even a 4bt cummins is pushing it size wise.

That's fine and dandy.

I'd still like to see it or something like it done. E30 with 4" smokestacks spewing black smoke? I'd LOVE to see that.

But yeah, will never happen.
