When I worked at Jimmy Johns I would take home the 5 gallon pickle buckets because they are endlessly useful. One use is for old oil. Works great, it holds a bunch of oil and is totally sealed when closed.
      Different strokes for different folks.

We have curb side oil pickup with or recycling, so needless to say, I'm not buying a container that I won't be getting back.

5 gallon containers, bring them to my buddies shop, for his waste oil furnace. He loans me a few and I give him clean oil. Dirt oil in example contaminated oil goes to any place that sells oil must have a recycle program. So it goes to local Autozone or Advance auto.

I use the gallon jugs that the new oil comes in and drop them at the recycle cenrtre along with my zip locked oil filters.

I used to buy oil in 5 gal pails and would love to find a place that still sells it that way now that I'm up to 4 e30's.

As someone else posted, kitty litter jugs work great.

On a related note, where can you dispose of used brake fluid?

I use the 5 gallon buckets from Home Depot with a lid.

I had two of these full and a 5 gallon water cooler container. I noticed a ring of oil around the base of said water container and said "damn, I should dump that". The next day I could smell the oil in the garage and more of it had leaked. I picked it up by the neck so I could dump it. The bottom dropped right out, along with 5 gallons of used oil........FUUUUUUUU all over my brand new pumas!
