I just bought a LQ9 engine that I'm building up with L92 heads and an LS3 intake. I'm not sure what cam I'm going to go with yet...and I don't know what chassis I'm going to put it in yet either. I'm leaning toward an E28 or perhaps an E39. I'm also looking for around 450hp.
Oh yeah, do it. And oh yeah, LS1tech.com is your friend when it comes to the LS series engines.Last edited by ACHTUNG; 09-07-2012, 11:44 AM.1989 US E30 Cammed S52

Oh and you know a T56 trans goes for around $1800-$2K right? The T6060 goes for over $3K.
Edit: I didn't notice this was already discussed on page 1...Last edited by ACHTUNG; 09-07-2012, 11:43 AM.1989 US E30 Cammed S52

Ya know, I think you might be just a little bit retarded... :) More weight, less power, less aftermarket, physically larger engine, less capable. So, where does the 1uz shine?
I couldn't get even a nibble when I tried to sell my 10k mile tr6060. Had to unload it for 1700. If I had my e30 at that point I would've kept it! I'm a cheapass but I'd have a hard time paying 2k for a t56 even if it was brand new. A t56 magnum can be had for 2800.84 325e - 91 325i - 92 318 touring - 91 Trans Am - 01 S4 avant - 03 S-type R - 96 F350 - 15 SS - 84 Biturbo - 91 Defender

My recommendation... get the motor, break it down, rebuild it so your familiar with the engine, save up money, read tutorials on how others did the swap and plan accordingly, buy parts for the swap, keep at least $2-3k in backup just in-case shit hits the fan, and build it.
I look forward to a project thread if you decide to go through with it. If not... s52 swaps and other BMW engines are a lot easier.Comment
