Nah, the roof was removed using a rescue tool called "The Jaws of Life", which is a hydraulic rescue tool that can cut the roof off a car very quickly.
@your response to me-completely understandable. You had more than enough to deal with, I'm glad your parents were there to help; you can't put a price on life.
At this topic at hand, I'd wait man.
1. Never settle or rush a large purchase.
2. After this ordeal in your life, I'd personally be on a quest to find the PERFECT (in your opinion) e30 as a replacement. Then keep it for life: for the sentimental value, the fact it saved your life, and of course it being an icon/reminder of how precious life is. It would make for one hell of a story for the kids.
I think the white 325 for 2250 could be had for less, and may be a good starting point. mind you in Canada that thing is minty, you guys have a better preserved supply of cars in general.

Actually , you would use hydraulic shears to cut the A & B pillers, hit the roof with a pike pole and fold it back. If you needed to, you would then use a saw to cut the c pillers to completely remove the roof. The "jaws of life " are actually a hydrolic spreader that opens up crushed spaces.

I am starting to think that way too. I need to be patient, and find the dream e30 for me.
yeah I remember you, often wondered what ended up happening after the accident.
glad to have you back - that was a really tough lesson, I'm sure.
