If you wanna do one light you could rig the low beam like cars now-a-days so when you activate the high beam the cut off thingy in the ellipsoid flaps up do it let's all the light out. I think that would look good. Put the flap on a spring and hook up an actuator to flip the cover up.

Thanks. A lot of guys ask me why I didn't do a restore or "cafe bike"... fuck that man, there are a million of those. Plus they're almost always parts bin bikes. Buy an exhaust. Buy a set of clubmans, buy rearsets... lame. I made tons of stuff on my bike.

                Some "custom" mods

Rear seat hoop = bottom of a set of BMX handlebars
                Front stem: made by me
                Front Axle: me
                Exhaust: me (304ss tig)
                Bars: me
All the controls: me (internal throttle is a modified purchased part)
Headlight nuts, kicker, fender struts, shock mounts, etc etc...

I get real bummed out when people tell me they have a "custom" anything, and it turns out to be a bunch of parts that they bolted together.

Oh yeah, since you can't see it in any of the pictures, here's the front of the exhaust. Cylinders 2 and 3 cross. Makes for a cool sound. Pardon the instagram pic, but you can follow me @ctnewman on there if you want...

It's actually really comfortable and I feel safe when driving it. The foot brake operates both front and rear brakes. The ONLY hard part is starting off on up-hills. You gotta use your left foot to clutch in so your right foot is on the ground, so you sorta have to fight the hill with that leg.

I'm only riding around with a low beam as it is. Most of my riding is city riding, so it's not an issue. I thought about using just one light, the smiley, but if I do, I might as well use the big 7" one.

i would think using just the smiley and putting a bixenon projector in it would be an easier, better looking option.

I held one smiley up there and it looked too small. So it's either BMW dual or OEM honda 7"

                        Having a high/low beam isn't a concern of mine.

                        It's a 75 Honda CB550

Weird story about how I got it:

Was at a garage sale with my GF and saw it sitting in the back of the garage, jokingly asked how much and the guy said: "fuck that thing it's my son's it's been sitting there for ever, make an offer"

I jokingly offered 10 bucks. He took it. I even jump started it and drove it home.

So it gets crazier. I get it home and my dad flips out. "I used to have one just like it... it was my first bike, same color and everything"... he studies it more. Goes into his files (my dad has a reciept for nearly everything ever).... BOOM SAME VIN.

It was his old bike. How awesome is that???

Amazing bike. I really like the modification of the controls, that's slick as hell.

The ellipsoid looks pretty good on there, can't wait to see the finished product.

So jelly of the bike, but more jelly of the fact that you have an engineering degree, work in industry, and have sick toys. I've got one year to go in my ME program...can't wait.
