And, the cars you DO drive just went up in value.
Thats exactly what i did! Parted out an 87 325is and not only made all my money back but came out $900 extra and got to keep the full bilstien sports with H&R sport springs suspension, S3.73 lsd, hood, wheels, seats... Its the way to go i tell ya!

Same except it was a 91 sedan. That's how I got my moonroof. Split the price of the car with a buddy and we stripped all the goods. It was like getting paid to get a moonroof and drive to Cleveland.

they aren't, but some day the "on the fence" cars will be gone. it's already pretty rare to see a "nice" E30. I don't even see junky ones much anymore (well, I did see a white body-kitted NEON UNDEGLOW 325e at a grocery store last weekend).

Nah, pretty sure newb came first.

El oh El at the people calling Mikeedler stupid, have you looked at his e30's or thought about where he lives? Its like shooting deer in NE or anywhere else that there are far too many, it can only help!

And for the people that strip/part out perfect cars: Why the fuck not! But West coast shells should be kept and sold to East coasters due to the fact they are so clean

some people dont want to pay for a well sorted car because its not "pretty"
In that case youre better off to cut it up. Lots of people would rather buy a shiny turd than a solid driver with patina. Not an e30 but i did this with an 02. people were offering me 5-6k. I cut it up and made 12k because it had lots of nice parts that didnt show

If it pays more to part it. Why in the world would someone sell it whole and make less money? # of "clean" e30 going down because of it? Too bad lol

I have parted one and every day that I live is full of regret. I could here the engine under the floor boards.

                      I agree with OP.

Exactly. I gave that car a new lease on life, drove it for 2 years, and the German TÜV made it too expensive to keep it alive. plus I had a total of about 1500 dolars into that car, back then e30s weren't going for fourteenkay!!!!!!

I have enough E30s, and didn't have place at the time to store it, had to go, and yes, I made atleast 5 fold what I would have if I sold it complete.

yeah, E30s are getting rare these days, but that car along with all the others I was parting was about 6-7 years ago, e30s were free over here back then.

All I'm going to say about this matter is that If there was a picture of the car before the part out, and it was in what I deem a good condition car. I absolutely will NOT buy a single part from that person. If everyone operated on that notion, very few good cars would get parted out.

I part out rusty ones. And that's not because it's all I have access to.

I agree with the OP and have a LOT of other things to say. But I am going to hold my tongue.

You really don't make that much money parting them out to be worth it anyway...
i have parted quite a few rusty and wrecked e30's. lately, i have been restoring decent cars and selling em off, though. i can say that any car with a decent engine and a manual trans that can still be purchased for less than 800.00 bucks can easily double the money that was originally in your wallet. it is lucrative indeed. i agree with you that i get kind of pissed when i see a nice one parted though. especially since i grew up in your neck of the woods.

I'm with the OP. It's hard to find clean examples these days, and with so many clapped out ones around why ruin a good one?
