How many cops are really knowledgable enough on e30's to pay attention to your bumpers? I wouldn't worry about it, paying you sounds just fine if that keeps it simpler and makes it get shipped faster.

Customs does not get involved in the enforcement of non dot parts issues. The parts are are to be used for off road purposes only or show. Otherwise if you get cited for it it reverts back the issue of legality where you can be fined under federal and state system.
Break the rule you pay the fine. Really simple. It's all about local enforcement. And to generalize that cops won't know? Well they are enthusiasts also. So they could very much know.

I find it easier to get a ticket for tint sidemarkers than to have no sidemarkers at all. If anything I'll put a small orange reflector somewhere and it's all good :)Erick Mahle | FullOpp Drift | YouTube

I was waiting for Jon to tell me where the pallet would be shipped and then I was going to call them. I'm still not sure about the full details of the pallet, i.e. the exact parts in it and the total volumetric size of it.Originally posted by Grueliusand i do not know what bugg brakes are.

I'm hoping that some one can help me as I've never dealt with anything like this.
I found the website for the Port of Portland, maybe it can help:

I hate to say it but you should have done your homework first then had him collect all the parts.
I deal with customs but my deal is far differant then yours, You are dealing with post 9-11 style customs so It could be more difficult. I am dealing with personel customs I don't import the volume you are planning on every trip. I am limited to $600.00 in declared value a month which I don't exceed.
I have no idea when It comes to what you are planning. That is why I don't use a connex to ship my stuff. Yea it would be less stressful on me that way but I don't want to have to do more tax paperwork and all the rest of the BS that might be involved.
your my guniea pig right, I have been watch this intently and sounds to me as it is not going that smoothly. How long is transit time going to be to the west coast? 1 month? I would say at least that.

The pallet probably won't be shipped out for another couple of weeks, so I figure that I'll have enought time to get everything finalized. I've sent an email to the nautical division of the Port of Portland; hopefully they can be of some assistance.
There have had to be some changes in the pallet due to post 9-11 changes. Wooden pallets are no longer importable, thus we had to switch to a plastic one. I have no idea why that would be so.
The shipment from the UK to the west coast will take at least 30 days according to the shipping company in the UK. Apparently the shipping company over there isn't giving Jon many answers, or any good ones at least. It's not going as smoothly as planned, but I'm in no hurry so I have plenty of time to iron out the wrinkles.
Perhaps some of you that are getting parts shipped over on the pallet can try to find out some answers from the Port of Portland? It would help me out a lot since I'm pretty busy here at college.Originally posted by Grueliusand i do not know what bugg brakes are.

Ummmm, i need to ask this before i even place a payment on it.
I am about to make a purchase on an M tech 1 rear spoiler now before i do place down the bills and have it sent from germany. Is there more involved then just going through the post office and such as customs and yada yada? :?
May sound dumb but im just curious.

hello again people
its been a while. just havent had the time to come on the forum lately. just e mailed ken, with regards to whats going on.
finally got things sorted with the shipping company. had to go down in person though. :o
the eta on the pallet is around 30days. to portland.
ken, james, nando(matt), kyle, matt, jon, craig, and the others this is still going to happen people.
matt your bbs have been striped of tyres and are ready yo go. will be doing the same with jons bbs"s today.
only problems at the mo...well trying to source a couple of things for james.one done we are ready to go.
as disused, the best thing to do is to have ken collect the funds indiviually.
this doesnt apply to matthew who has already sent me payment for the m-tec 2 spoiler. although the shipping cost will have to be forwarded to ken.
ive explained everything to ken. but as it stands the pallet is going to cost around $436 to portland. this will have to be divided suitable between all the partys.
but either way this is so mush better than shipping individually.
hope this answers everyones questions. :D
will be intouch shortly.
