Exactly why I've never seen the point in dash swaps. It's only going to crack anyway, and if you will be throwing a dash cover/mat over it, then it makes no difference whether the dash is cracked underneath. You won't see it.

My dash has a few cracks in it. I bought the car with a dash mat but threw it away. The car is 30 years old, it wears its age with pride.

Sure it may crack eventually, but I bet I'll get a lot more life out of dash #2 since the car is garage-kept, and will be as long as I own it.

If your car is a beater and you think of it and treat it as such, then a dash swap doesn't make sense. Personally I take immense pride in my car and its appearance since I have a significant amount of money and man-hours invested in it.

What do you drive? Have yet to see a 30 yo E30.

Also my dash is minty fresh with nary a crack in sight.

He's in the country of venom and dismemberment.

+1 on this. I have two cracks in mine, but I never really get caught up by them. And this is coming from a guy who replaced the bulb in his ashtray because it needs to be complete.

I say my dash is crack free, but it isnt, has a half inch crack in the corner of the tray.

Mine too. Been thinking about a wrap of some kind or maybe coloring the cracks with a sharpie
