I was driving my e46 down a construction zone and they didn't indicate there was a raised pavement section (it was a good 2.5 inches up and the e46 is slammed), it bent my wheel lip beyond repair, and bent the front passenger side barrel (first to impact) and caused a flat in 2 tires. Local insurance said they would pay for a new set of wheels :D

Ok 2 questions.

1 If you have a dropped (aka stiff) suspension, and you go off the bump that is indicted in the pics, you know ramped down, (there for little abrupt surface level change to cause a stiff suspension to flex that much) at a stated 15mph why did it compress that much??

2 Why were we driving that far over center of the road way, would have to have at least drivers side wheels in the oncoming travel lane.

1.Its obvious the OP understated his speed so that he can appear to be driving appropriately in the eyes of those who may review his case for damage reparations. Lying. Well maybe stretching the truth in hopes of compensation. People do it every day. Does that make it ethical- Hell NO!

2. Trying to anticipate what may be coming next is my guess. Dark road conditions and bumps and dips are felt - " Oh , shit take evasive action". Unfortunately that ended up causing more damage then it prevented in this case.

This is purely conjecture , but a good bet that it more accurate than false.

I think it will be a very hard thing to collect on , but if you dont ask to be compensated then you will never see a dime thats for sure. Many on the board are seemingly trying to set your expectations and make sure you dont think that money will fall from the cities coffers. The city has probably gone through this over and over again with other peoples lowered vehicles doing the same thing or worse so they will more than likely be well prepared when you arrive with your hand out asking for compensation.

I say go for it though if you have the extra time to fight for your cause. Everybody seems to have a cause these days so why should'nt you? At least your not trying to save the gay, baby, crack addicted , whales.

I did not know you were a weaving dipship though? I weave sometimes too even when I am driving my lifted truck when I see the city has plowed up the road like ass tards and could not care less about the damage that it will surely do to the vehicles we spend hard earned money upon. Funny thing is most people see me weave and follow suit as they realize the roads are f()c5ed and are much lower at stock height on their vehicles than I am. Some may say I am a dip shit weaver as well and thats cool. At the end of the day I am the guy with less damage to their vehicle and a trendsetter to boot.

If you do collect from the city please post documented evidence within this thread so the "nay-sayers" can choke on some crow. If not then please post as well.

I dont believe I was weaving like a dipshit more like avoiding bumps from my stiff suspension, I was following a semi intoxicated friend a mile down the road to his house to make sure he got home ok, speed limit on this road is 30-35mph, I fell behind because I was trying to be careful of the f-ed road conditions riding the center of the road as to avoid the rim bending drainage grates, I estimated at a low of 15mph couldnt have been more than twenty, I was in third gear with 4:10s maybe at 2000rpm tops. I was the only one on the road in the dark misty conditions and just simply did not see it coming, I was a bit tired from a bachelor party but had switched to waters 3 hours prior as I knew I had to drive home. Called the police after it happened, no questions asking if I had been drinking even after he saw my pump and pan pieces in the trunk next to a opened 12 pack haha.

Thats funny though, the sense of entitlement lot of people have these days, I'm not one to sue or ride the system, but in this case I feel the majority of this accident was more the construction company's fault, if it had been marked, I could have prepared. I have some more pics I can post of the lack of warnings and the oil in the road under my car on a grated road if there are those of you who think this is a hoax, not that I care, as I avoid getting butt hurt on the internet.

No worries haha thought this would have come up at some point, we left on a party bus at 8:30 to go to providence for the strip clubs(party buses are the shit btw, and if youve never been to a strip club in providence, they are crazy, they will do anything for money and I mean anything, not that I do that sort of thing Im too cheap and have a girlfriend for that) started the night with a redbull vodka, redbull can dumped in a nip of smirnoff, then switched to beers, had 2 on the bus, would have drank more but was about to piss myself, got to a bar had a shot of whiskey and then went to the strip club 15 mins later. had a total of 3 beers there(over 6 bucks for a can wtf) over the next 3 hours maintained a buzz and stopped drinking at around 1 am. left the club at 2:30 and pounded about 3 waters on the way back. we got to the parking lot at 3:30ish and I waited to see if anyone needed a ride, left at 4am trying to follow a not so sober kid back to his place and hit this pothole maybe 2000 feet down the road. I was thankfully completely sober and like I said called the cops and AAA.

Road was not labeled, I had just left the section that was loaded with cones 1000 feet before.

Hit manhole in the middle of the road. Guilty, but the side of the road was had a bunch of drainage ditches that were sticking up 2 inches and potholes that everywhere.

Yes my car is lowered from its factory height, but lets say I had been driving a new corvette or perhaps Ferrari, I'm positive these cars would sustain damage similar to mine, even my dads bone stock s2000 is only a half an inch higher than my rocker and I took out like almost two inches of oil pan. Just saying
