Never wear gloves, bugs the hell out of me. I'll get m share of cuts every once in a while, but whatever. OP, if your putting a lot of pressure into something to break a bolt free, use an open hand on the wrench if possible, don't wrap your fingers around the wrench. That way when it inevitably slips your knuckles aren't the first thing to slam into the surrounding sharp/hard objects.

Calluses.
My hands are all scarred up from hitting shit, etc. Fingernails are kept short to keep shit out from under them. Dawn is kept nearby to take the grease off.
I may wear cheap gardening gloves when pulling engines/trans/diffs/etc but when taking shit apart, nope.1974.5 Jensen Healey : 2003 330i/5

Thanks everyone. I'll probably just deal with it since I'm lazy and don't need more things to spend money on. I bowl competitively and it's just my luck that all of the nicks I have now are exactly where my fingers are in the ball... That is really the only reason I was asking; I don't want it to hurt when I bowl lol.
I don't mind getting dirty... it makes me feel like I'm actually doing something productive for once....

I always wear nitrile gloves, generally double bagged. It makes it easier to replace the top pair when they are too dirty or get ripped and shit's all sweaty.
Does not protect against the inevitable smashed finger or knuckle, that's just part of the territory.
I buy them by the case since I also use them for my business. Wrap it up you dirty slobOriginally posted by blunttechAlways Always go for the reach around if there is an option

The basic mechanix gloves gets me by all the time. Cheap at under 10 bucks and they are leather whatever type palms. They are thin enough to get feedback. They can handle welding sparks and mild heat, if they get any type of oil on them just wash and dry. I hand wash all mine to keep the washer free of the crap they get on them.~ Puch Cafe. ~ Do business? feedback ~ Check out my leather company ~

These Ansell Hyflex gloves are TITS for anything that requires the dexterity of wearing latex, but don't rip into a hundred pieces when you catch them on stuff.
And for anything that may involve me bashing my hands into stuff I wear Mechanix M-pact series
Anyone that says gloves are for pussies obviously isn't a mechanic, or doesn't work every single day with their hands...and if they are then they're dumb. Skin absorbs greases, oils, varsol, gasoline, etc...It's probably a good idea to protect yourself.Originally posted by Dozyproductions
