    What's your preferred motor oil?

I've always used Mobil 1 fully synthetic 10w-30, what about you guys? I was looking for Diff fluid at bimmerworld and noticed they has redline motor oil and thought about how good it should be considering they race their cars and probably use redline...

I've been using castrol GTX for a while (10-40). I'd run mobile 1 don't think I'd want to put synthetic in a 175k bottom end. :p

all 3 of my diffs have redline fluid in them though, good stuff.

I switched to Mobil1 40 and the engine got way noisier. Back to Castrol dyno 40 all is back to as it was. Remember cold here is 60.

used to pay out the ass for mobil1 15w50, then realized that a 165K motor is just eating that stuff up(blow-by). went to castrol gtx 20w50 and stuck with it.

I pick between Mobil 1 and Castrol.
The BMW 318 is back. With a vengeance.

BMW uses castrol for their BMW oil.
I'm using mobil 1 15w-50, I like the 5 quart jug from walmart.

How much is the 5w50 syntec?

If BMW uses Castrol I may have to try that.

Affirmative. BMW uses 5w30 Castrol in most of their engines. This does not include that crazy 0w60 for the newer M engines, or 10w60, or whatever the hell it is.

Yes... BMW also recommends 10k mile oil change intervals...

Have you looked at an S54 with Castrol recommended oil? It's not pretty!
