Being a Florida car I'd definitely check for any major rust, the humidity and abundance of salt in the air could have caused some damage. It looks like an excellent find, I'm just skeptical on the whole "battery" thing.
1. If a person really wanted to sell the car, they'd pay the >$100 for a battery.
2. Florida weather can beat a car up pretty bad. Rust, corrosion, clogged shit, etc.
3. Hell, just take the battery out of your car real quick and give it a go haha. Either way, I'd get a battery in there and see what happens. If it doesn't start, maybe she'll go even lower?!
4. Rick Harrison (Pawn Stars) this chick! Tell her "$7k deal if it fires up, or agree on a lower price if it doesn't.)
5. Either way this goes, I think you'll come out fine given the circumstances. An S14 rebuild takes some serious cash when done properly, take that and also "wear and tear" maintenance into consideration. As another said:
If you don't buy it, please post it here or s14.net. One of us WILL buy it.
I'm sure you know, but even if the engine runs, 225k is the upper limits for an s14. It'll need a rebuild or another engine soon. That is easily a $12-15k purchase without even trying. A proper s14 rebuild can easily cost over $10k. That is why you see so many with s50/52 swaps. Vastly cheaper.
thanks for the heads up. Yeah i know how much engine builds can go. Im having my S52 built for a low compression turbo build. fresh hone, bearings, pistons, rods, etc not cheap at all
Hey Bud
Long time no see. Buy the e30 and come back out to the track!
trying but it wont be till next year due to work. If i do get the E30 it will def not be my track car, although i MAY take it out once or twice just for the hell of it when its up to par. I replace my alpine white E36 with a cosmos e36 in my SIG. Its getting a low compression build for my same turbo kit as the previous car. Def gonna be a moster, keeping the boost low since its a track car though. debating on a GTR kit as well to through on some wider tires for traction. I should fare well with a 911 turbo easliy as long as I have a BBK for the corners.
Sounds like a good plan. My red flag goes up whenever I see an ad where the seller claims the problem is something simple (like a $25 part, or dead battery).
If she's asking $7k for a car that will otherwise run, she can afford to put a battery in it and prove that it does.
the car wasnt for sale. I just saw something purty and walked in the shop and started asking about the car. She didnt plan on selling it, I asked she was interested in selling it, and she said sure.
there are like 47 r3v'ers on their way to Fayetteville NC right now to scoop this car...
I hope to hell you have it somewhere else..lol
lol just because the sticker say Fayetteville doesnt mean the cars in Fayetteville, kinda like some people think the cars in Tampa because thats where im from. People and cars with stickers can move, its a new concept
dont worry guys I promised to post all the info about the car if I dont pick it up.
ok guys, heres a list of checks you guys recommended before buying the car, if Ive missed anything or if someone wants to add something to the please reply;
- Im gonna bring by a batt, that way there is no excuse for them. Hopefully the engine will start. She even said the AC worked...We'll see
- CARFAX (of-course if anything shows up negative, ill just lower my asking price.
- Rust/corrision underneath, floor pans. (id consider still buying depending on the extint of the corrision, its bound to have some, but what degree am I willing to except.
- Compression check / leak down test? What do you guys think. If I get this down, and it doesnt come back good ill deg lower my asking price. What are the normail range for compression on the S14?
....I think those are the main things. everything else will get fixed replaced anyways. My timeframe for purhase is NOV. The cars been there for at least a year, and its not publicaly for sale, so im not worried about it going away.
I was thinking this thread was going like when I got mine...Guy got emails out the wazzo trying to out bid me.

Paid 3.5K for mine and it was running driving.
I'd love to hear the story behind this. I thought mine was a steal at $6800.
